Review Of Aerosmith's Toronto Show On The Global Warming Tour With Cheap Trick
CHEAP TRICK
Simply BADASS. They came on stage right on time and rocked out to hits like "Surrender", "The Flame", "I Want You To Want Me", and "Dream Police". They made me want to familiarize myself with more of their music. Definately a crowd pleasing band.
Aerosmith
Oh Mr. Tyler how I adore you. Toxic Twins Steven and Joe came up from below the stage together to start their awesome set which featured hits such as "Love In An Elevator", "Livin' On The Edge", "What It Takes", "Last Child", "Cryin'", "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", "Dream On" and many more.
Steven Tyler was particularly entertaining moving around the stage and hitting those high notes as if he were 20 years old again. He even shared the spotlight with the rest of his band, giving both Joey Kramer and Joe Perry their own respective solos. The crowd seemed to LOVE the show. Great job boys!

Jon And Kyle's Birthday Party Tonight!
Jon and Kyle's Birthday Party is tonight! First we're heading to East Side Mario's at Taunton and Harmony in Oshawa for dinner at 7:30pm. Our reservation for the restaurant is nearly full so I recommend anyone who is still interested in attending the dinner let Jon or Kyle know as soon as possible. After dinner we're heading over to the Oshawa Cineplex to see The Avengers in 3D at 10:45pm. I suggest anyone who is still interested in this part of the party buy their tickets early as it is likely to sell out. See everyone tonight!

Thanks To Matt & Betty For A Great Super Bowl Party!
Sorry I'm a little late on this one. But what I shall say is that Matthew Gertler and Betty Luu were the most gracious of hosts I have ever encountered and I thank them for their supreme hospitality.
There, how's that Betty, no bad reviews here. I'm sure your future gatherings will now entice people to no end, and the venue will overflow with the joy I experienced the other night many more times in the future.
Oh and just for giggles...
WE WON!!! Go New York Giants!!

American Idiot Musical Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before performance: 8/10
The American Idiot Musical Tour had finally arrived in Toronto and I was quite excited for it. I was never 100% supportive of the musical and skeptical as to how it would work out.
What I found while watching it was that the plot in the beginning seemed very thin. My biggest complaint about the musical was that it did not focus nearly enough on the political aspects of Green Day’s concept album. Also I felt that by adding too many characters it took attention away from the character that should have been the one and only focus, Johnny(the Jesus Of Suburbia)
Other than that I found that the show provided an entertaining cast and set of songs. It was executed fairly well. Everyone one of the cast sang the songs nicely although I did not feel that there was anyone who really shined brightly. Oh and the dances were fairly decent, although as my sister pointed out kind of repetitive.
The technical aspects of the show were perhaps the best part. The lighting and stage design as well as the special effects(ie. an amputated leg) were all superb.
All in all it was a good show, but not an amazing one.

More Pics From Halloween Laser Tag!!
Halloween Laser Tag Was A Blast!!!!
Laser Tag was awesome last night! We started the night off playing the game individually and hunting each other. Next was Vampires vs. Werewolves where the players were seperated into two teams and competed for the highest score. Then we played humans vs. Zombies where the top 5 players from the previous round were hunted by the rest of the players. The next round involved playing in a circle and trying to hit as many people as possible. Next was capture the flag style. Finally we played one last game, which was individual play, except this time we got to play with two guns each.
There was also a bit of a costume contest which, Zombieking(Kyle) won for his dead Prom King costume:)
Here are some more pics of my costume but I'm sure more will be coming throughout the day.

Jason Revington's Comment About Next Friday's Karaoke Night
Jason Revington recently commented on this event on the blog page:
"Lets try this again. Yes come one come all to Meagans birthday party at Viva City. Not only will you get to hear great songs and have great food. But you will also get to hear my cousin Jennifer McCrae attempt to do Adeles Someone Like You. And also hear me and Jon yes that Jon do the Glee style version of Dream On"
I should get you to write the Viva City Karaoke event pages from now on Jason :P But in response To Jennifer doing "Someone Like You" by Adele, I say go for it, she has an amazing voice. As for Glee's version of "Dream On" by Aerosmith, I will only do it if I can do NPH's part and you do Matthew Morrison's part. I look forward to it. OH and I may just have to do Coldplay's "Fix You" for the girls.

Halloween Laser Tag For Betty's Birthday
Ok so we're doing laser tag for Betty Luu's Birthday this year. I don't know what costume I should be though. I thought about going as the Joker again and then I also though about Robin from Batman as well. If I do either of these characters I am going to try to get Kyle to be Batman, because it will be epic. But there's no guarantee that he will do it. Now I also had Kermit the frog in mind for this year so please don't hesitate to vote below. Thanks guys!

Viva City Karaoke Kicks Ass Once Again
Yes it's true, our new karaoke host still held his own against the former one, Dave. We all had a great time. The host surprised us when he brought in a ton of equipment, including his own speakers, he turned on the spotlights, and even had us high up on the stage, with a wireless mic so we could move around. He even began to play the keytar which was awesome. I sang a ton of songs last night. My set list included:
"Under The Bridge" by The Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Say It Ain't So"(alongside Jason Revington) by Weezer
"Santeria"(alongside Sarah Budd) by Sublime
"Wonderwall"(alongside Sarah Budd) by Oasis
"Beth" By Kiss
"The Twist" by Chubby Checker
"YMCA" by the village people
"Basket Case" by Green Day
and many more

Eliza Dushku Fan Expo Photo!!!
After two weeks of waiting our Fan Expo picture with Eliza Dushku has arrived!!! Finally!!!
FAN EXPO Photos!!!!!
You can view the photos from this weekend in the viewer below. Unfortunately the photo of Kyle and I with Eliza Dushku won't be up for a few days(they have to mail it to us).
FAN EXPO RECAP
I will say that despite how exhausting it was, Fan Expo weekend was amazing. We had gone through the schedule ahead of time to see what we would like to do over the course of the weekend and we did have a lot to do.
Thursday
Thursday was the opening day of FAN EXPO. We were there over an hour early waiting in line but once we got inside the metro convention the line was split and we ended up getting in to the expo room much later than we expected. But once we had picked up our swag bags, which were full of nerdy goods such as a hellboy mask and Justice League and Captain America posters, we finally got into the main room. A few short minutes later horror icon Robert Englund(Freddy Kruegar) comes out to his autograph booth so Jason and I headed over to it. We waited for in line for nearly 2 hours so we could get Robert’s autograph but it was totally worth it. Mr. Englund seemed tremendously nice and wanted to talk to as many fans as possible. He signed a copy of his book Hollywood Monster for me and then we went shopping and looked at some posters and art. There seemed to be a lot of really talented artists this year. By the end of the night I had quite the headache but was still overjoyed that I met one of my idols.
Friday
Friday we woke up and I was excited for the chance to see another icon Doug Bradley(AKA Pinhead from the Hellraiser series) at his Q and A session, but Mr. Bradley never showed and the event was rescheduled until 3pm on Saturday, unfortunately at that time I would be getting my photo op with Eliza Dushku so I wasn’t going to get to see Pinhead’s Q and A :( . Kyle and Jason then waited in line for Heroes star Hayden Panettiere’s autograph session and got some pictures signed. We then went to a panel for the Comic Geek Speak Show, unfortunately it didn’t hold our attention and we left. Next was horror make-up and special Effects legend Tom Savini’s Q and A session. I was so happy I got to go to this. Tom obviously talked a lot about make-up and special effects, why he wouldn’t do certain projects, and why he hated the new Friday The 13th movie. The man was quite witty, laid back, and informative. I immediately went to get his autograph on my Friday The 13th DVD case. The rest of the day we looked around and shopped some more and then went to karaoke with Jason and a bunch of his family.
Saturday
This was a big day for us. Yes we were late arriving and Eliza Dushku(Faith from Buffy) had a photo op scheduled for 2pm. We had to get Jason and Tammy to buy us our photo ops from Eliza’s autograph booth. In the meantime Kyle and I went to Hayden Panettiere’s Q and A session and Meagan went to hold a spot in line for Eliza’s photo op. Hayden was incredibly nice and was interacting very well with her fans. She answered questions about her work with wildlife, and of course her roles on Heroes and Scream 4. She talked about working with Wes Craven and how funny he was. At the end of the Q and A a fan asked her for a hug and she obliged. Hayden Panettiere was tremendously intelligent and interesting to listen to.
After the Q and A we waited upstairs to get our photographs with Eliza Dushku. There was a huge crowd because Tom Felton was right next door doing his photo op as well. When we got into the room I looked over at what seemed to be the tallest woman I have ever seen. It was Eliza. We waited a few seconds before we got our picture taken. Kyle was informed that he had to wear a bulky black hoody because he was wearing a green t-shirt and that he would disappear if he didn’t wear the hoody. When we walked up to Eliza we greeted each other and she complimented me on my batman shirt. I said “thanks” and was thinking in my mind “holy shit, it’s Faith”. We took our picture and we went on our way. They had informed us that we were to pick up our picture on Sunday.
We then went downstairs to Hall G where we had to wait for Eliza’s Q and A. There was already a ton of people waiting for her. When it finally started Eliza was asked all kinds of questions about Buffy. Then a little girl asked a question: “Who is your best friend from Buffy?”. Eliza went on to talk about each cast member and proceeded to tell the girl about how David Boreanaz used to go around a flash everyone on set. Eliza then thinks aloud “And I’m telling this to a five year-old”. The entire crowd laughed. Then the girl’s mother spoke into the mic: “She’s seven”. Eliza states “And now I’ve offended a seven year-old”. Eliza was one of the best Q and As to go to and seemed like, along with Robert Englund, the most laid back out of everyone we met this past weekend.
Sunday
The final day of Fan Expo was a big day for Q and As. First up was a tardy Malcolm McDowell who is best known for his role as Alex A in A Clockwork Orange. His Q and A was pretty hysterical. When one an asked him if he thought there was any correlation between the London riots and movies like A Clockwork Orange, he shouted out “He’s blaming me for the London fucking riots!!!” which I thought was tremendously hilarious. He began to talk about his thoughts on the riots, stating that he didn’t want to get too political.
The next Q and A was that of Robert Englund. The man was incredible to listen to. He tells stories with such charisma and charm and excitement. He addressed his thoughts on the A Nightmare On Elm Street remake stating he love s the cast but his one complaint was that you didn’t really get to know the characters before all the bad stuff started happening so you couldn’t really sympathize with them. He also talked about how he auditioned for Apocalypse Now and Han Solo in Star Wars. He explained some of his own nightmares. Also he talked about how he got to know Wes Craven and how they would get drunk together. My only issue with his Q and A would be that there was only about four questions asked by his fans and that the moderator went on for a long time with his own questions.
The final Q and A for the day was Tom Felton(perhaps better known as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. I have never been a huge Harry Potter fan but I thought this could be somewhat interesting. I am glad I stayed for it though. Tom was very sincere and would answer just about any question his fans had. Including the ones about the Draco Malfoy fan-fiction erotic stories that are out there that fantasize about the idea of sexual frustrations between Draco and Harry. Tom laughed this one off and thanked his fans for being creative but quietly asked them to stop. The crowd laughed along with him. Fans asked questions about what he thought about the end of the Harry Potter films and about his character at the end of the films and he simply stated that he like the way it ended and how his character turned out. When asked about his experiences on set he stated that Daniel Radcliffe was a bit of a prankster and that they had become close friends. The crowd for his Q and A was huge and definitely the loudest of all of them.
After that we departed from Fan Expo 2011 for the last time. It was a really great experience for me and would like to do it again next year if I get the opportunity.

Sing For The Cure Was A Huge Success!
I would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone who had a hand in making Sing For The Cure a great success. My good friend Sarah Budd put sooooo much effort into organizing this event. Sarah we are all so very proud of you. Sing For The Cure had a turnout of 94 PEOPLE which is excellent considering we didn't think we would achieve the goal of reaching 75. Over a $1000 was raised to help fight cancer. This was an event that I will say I was very proud to take part in.
The event also featured many of the regular patrons singing abilities as well as some new people, including four children who sang along together to Bruno Mars' "Grenade" and "The Lazy Song" as well as Katy Perry's "Firework" and "E.T.".
Earlier in the week I asked for site-visitors to vote on which song I sang in case I could only get one in. I ended up doing three of the songs, along with a surprise number with my mom. I performed the three songs in the order of the number they received. Here was my setlist:
"Stand By Me" by Ben E. King- sang by myself and my mom
"Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day
"Fix You" by Coldplay
"I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders
I was very happy to get this many songs in. There is a video of myself singing "Wake Me Up When September Ends" on my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/jon.franz1
There may also be videos floating around on the Viva City Youtube channel. And I'm sure more photos will be flowing through this page as well so keep a look out.
UPDATE: There is a video of a small kid helping Karaoke Dave sing "Bad To The Bone" on my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/jon.franz1
