New Trailer And Poster For A Good Day To Die HardOk so a new trailer for A Good Day To Die Hard(Die Hard 5) has hit the web. This installment follows John to Russia for some reason. The movie looks ok but they probably should have quit while they were ahead. Also the new poster(to the left) looks like ass. You can view the trailer below.

Bryan Singer To Direct X-Men: Days Of Future Past?
It has been reported that Matthew Vaughn who directed X-Men: First Class will not be returning to do the sequel. Although he is an unfortunate loss for the film, it comes with some good news. Bryan Singer, the director of the first two X-Men films will possibly return to the director's chair for a potential Sentinal-based film. Good news all around!

Agent Coulson To Make An Appearance In Pilot Episode Of Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D.
Actor Clark Gregg is set to reprise his role from the Avengers movies as Agent Coulson in the upcoming pilot for Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. This is strange news seeing as Coulson dies in The Avengers but good none-the-less. Can't wait to see him back.

First Image From Sam Raimi's Evil Dead Remake!
The Sam Raimi-produced Evil Dead remake will be hitting theatres on April 12, 2013. We finally have our first image(left) from the film. In my opinion it looks fairly good. I'm glad that they are trying to recapture some of the great stuff from the first movie. Let's hope this true for the rest of the film.

Sinister Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 9/10
Sinister was a bit of a let down. Based on the trailers I thought this movie could potentially be tremendously creepy. The audience did receive a few jump scares but the film didn’t really do anything out of the norm. It lacked suspense and any real direction in the plot. It did, however, have a few humourous moments
The film follows a family who move to a new home because their father is a true crime writer who wants to reclaim his fame. The house they are living in was the house of a family of murder victims. It is revealed that a supernatural force, which lives in images, is behind everything. The acting was well done. Ethan Hawke contributed a decent performance as did the rest of the cast, which included Juliet Rylance, Fred Dalton Thompson, and James Ransone.
The movie wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t really good. There were a few sequences when it got kind of boring. There were also times where it seemed that it should have ended but didn’t, leading to a bit of a drag-out.

Pitch Perfect Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
Pitch Perfect follows an all-female accapella group as they try to make it to their regionals competition and fix their reputation(that was destroyed by a rather gross debacle) by finding new members.
The group now features a group of misfits who all love music. They perform mash-ups and covers of popular songs throughout the film and try to defeat their rivals, the Treblemakers. Before anything more is said, yes it is an awful lot like Glee. The one thing that saves it from being “Glee: The Movie”is that it is slightly raunchier.
The film stars Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, and Rebel Wilson. The film also features the like of the amazing Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins who get some really great one-liners in.
The movie does tend to get a little chick-flicky at parts but that’s all good and fine. It’s actually fairly funny although doesn’t live up to it’s full potential. Rebel Wilson deserves to have her name mentioned as well because without her the film probably wouldn’t even have been as good as it was.
Pitch Perfect is a fun movie to watch with friends but was not really overly memorable.

Foo Fighters Play Last Show(For A While)
This news may be a little late but during their set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters announced that it would be their last show for a while and he really didn't know when they would be back. So they powered through their Wasting Light and Greatest Hits heavy-set so that they could watch Neil Young play.
This is a sad thought to me. I really hope they can get back together sooner rather than later.

10. Grand Theft Auto IIIIn all honesty I probably love this game solely because of my devious side. Grand Theft Auto III allowed you to play in story mode, but I was always more interested in just going around and trashing everything and getting a tank to help me with the task. This is a great game to help you get out any frustrations you might have.
9. Twisted Metal IIIOnce again, the destructive side kicks in as players attack eachother in cool vehicles. Perhaps the graphics aren't the greatest, nor does the game have the best concept.... But I loved playing it.
8. AladdinThis is on here pretty much for the sake of nostalgia. I played this game non-stop as a kid and can still remember the cheat code that I used to skip (lots of) levels. Each level was gradually more difficult but I did finally get to Jafar a couple times and kick his ass!
7. Roller Coaster TycoonThis is a game that kept me glue to the computer chair. Who doesn't want to design their own theme park?!! It was always fun to see the guests fly of the tracks when you would raise the launch speed of your roller coasters as well.
6. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3This one upped the graphics on the first to games and brought in a shitload of new items and rides! The challenges were also made to be more challennging. This also had a great water-park expansion pack that made me very happy.
5. Pac-ManClassic... You all know it so I don't think it's necessary to explain the greatness of Pac-Man. 'Nuff said!
4. Star Fox 64Another game I played for hours on end. Although, it seems signifcantly less difficult than it did when I played it as a kid. Still, it's loads of fun! You get to fly around in planes and shoot at the enemy and do all sorts of neat tricks. Some of your team mates can get a little irritating, especially f***in' Slappy!
3. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3My friends and I would get together in my basement all the time to beat the shit out of eachother through Mortal Kombat 3. We had tournaments regularly. And when we got bored of that we could always play the regular mode. We also LOVED watching all the fatalities and brutalities. Awesome game.
2. Sonic The Hedgehog 2Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was everything that the original was and more. It provided hours of entertainment. I still can't get very far in the game but it's still fun to try! I loved rolling around and breaking robots and catching rings. I also loved the two player racing mode.
1. Mario Kart 64F***ing amazing game! Mario Kart 64 may have been the only Mario Bros. game I ever truly enjoyed. It's like Twisted Metal for kids but in racing style. You get to throw shells and all sorts of other things at eachother. You get to choose between eight classic characters to play. Oh, and you get frustrated at falling into the water and being hit by things like giant penguins sliding along ice. LOVE IT!

The House At The End Of The Street Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
The House At The End Of The Street may not be the most original film to grace the silver screen. It is however quite entertaining.
The movie stars The Hunger Games’ Jennifer Lawrence as young Elissa, Elisabeth Shue as her mother Sarah, and Max Thieriot as Ryan Jacobson.
Elissa and her mother move into a new house after the death of their father and husband. It is revealed that two people were killed in the house next door. Their surviving son is still living in that house. It is believed that the daughter is livig in the woods. This causes other neighbours to speculate and jump to conclusions, resulting in unfavourable. Elissa begins to fall for the son(Ryan Jacobson) and eventually finds out things are not what they seem. The ending reveals a very Sleepaway Cam-esc plot twist.
The performances given in the film are fine. Each character seems likeable in their own way and the ones that aren’t likeable weren’t meant to be. I actually didn’t want any of the main characters to die which is what makes it so entertaining to watch.
The film had a good atmosphere to it and was a great random popcorn thriller but nothing more. I was glad to see that I wasn’t completely disappointed by this film.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The film which you are about to see is an account of the tragedy which befell a group of five youths, in particular Sally Hardesty and her invalid brother, Franklin. It is all the more tragic in that they were young. But, had they lived very, very long lives, they could not have expected nor would they have wished to see as much of the mad and macabre as they were to see that day. For them an idyllic summer afternoon drive became a nightmare. The events of that day were to lead to the discovery of one of the most bizarre crimes in the annals of American history, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
In what I consider to be the best horror movie of all time, young Sally and her wheelchair bound brother Franklin, along with some friends, decide to visit the house of their grandfather after the occurance of some bizarre grave robberies in Texas. This goes horribly wrong when the group encounters a crazed, developmentally disabled man(who has come to be known as Leatherface) with a chainsaw(played by Gunnar Hansen). It appears he is wearing someone’s face as a mask. Sally soon finds out that Leatherface has a cannibalistic family who may be even crazier than he is. They catch her and torture her for the rest of the night.
Director Tobe Hooper did a FANTASTIC job on this film. The major underlying theme of the film seems to be the state of the American family. The major questions it asks are “what kind of things would you do for your family?”, “What kind of impact does your family have on your life?”, “Can family mislead you?” ,“Do they take advantage of you?”. I think the ultimate question it asks is: “should you trust in stangers?”. This theme is especially apparent when Sally runs toward a house where she believes she will find help and ends up being tortured for the remainder of the night.
Beyond the themes we can discuss the excellent use of camera shots in this film. From shaky camera movements to shots of Sally’s twitching, terrified eyes. The way the film is shot makes you feel completely uneasy.
The setting of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre helps as well. The victims run through the dark rural area with little more than a flashlight and have absolutely nowhere to run to.
The original Texas Chainsaw is chilling and horrific and should be highly regarded as one of the best slasher films of all time.

The Evil Dead
The Sam Raimi-produced horror film The Possession has hit theatres to admittedly unfavourable reviews. I wanted to take this “opportunity” to discuss the film that got him his start in the film industry: The Evil Dead.
The Evil Dead was a low budget horror film that Sam Raimi directed in 1981. It is a fun, but ridiculously stupid film that has gathered quite the cult following.
The movie follows a group of young people who travel to a cabin in the woods. They play a tape of incantations that release demons that end up possessing them.
Bruce Campbell plays the lead role of Ash who’s girlfriend and sister both get possessed. He ends up being the last one left to fend off the demons on his own.
The film’s gore and special effects are great for the time and are thoroughly enjoyable. There’s also a great(although random) scene where someone gets attacked by the trees in the woods.
Evil Dead is quite atmospheric and the camera angles and movements definitely aid the film in this area.
If you like old, cheesy, gorey, fun horror films and haven’t already seen Evil Dead, you should because it’s right up your alley.

First Full Trailer For Texas Chainsaw 3D
Ok so it's here! The first full trailer for the upcoming sequel(a film that completely disregards the other sequels and remakes in the franchise) to Tobe Hooper's original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. My thoughts on the trailer are kind of mixed. I feel that the movie could be either really good or really bad. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The Smashing Pumpkins Begin Work On New Album
After this year's successful Oceania album, Billy Corgan and the rest of the current Smashing Pumpkins line-up are working on a follow-up. This is occuring despite that before Oceania was released Billy Corgan had discussed his distain for the album format. He found that it was even more difficult to release music piece by piece. He had this to say about the album format:
"In fact, I kind of dread it because I think it's a lot of energy for not a lot of return," he explains. "I mean, what are great sales today? At least back in the day, it was like a million, two million -- at least people were listening to it. Now you sell 100,000, and for all you know two million people are listening to it but you don't see it. You don't get the reward for it. The business treats you like shit if you don't do certain numbers. You can't get played on the radio 'cause the guy in the nameless band is outselling you. I really wish someone had come up with an (alternative), but I don't know what supplants it. It's all very mystifying."

Scream
Seeing as actress Rose McGowan attended Toronto’s Fan Expo last weekend I will be discussing the 1996 slasher film Scream. McGowan stars as Tatum, heroin Sidney Prescott’s best friend who has a noteable death scene involving the garage door of her boyfriend’s house.
The film stars Neve Campbell as Sidney, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Deputy Dewey, Jamie Kennedy as Randy, and Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich as killers Stu and Billy.
One year after the murder of her mother Maureen, Sidney is being stalked and attacked by a killer in a ghost costume(eventually named Ghostface). Throughout the story Sidney and the others(despite their differences) attempt to figure out who the killer is as their friends get slaughtered one by one.
Directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, Scream intends to analyze the horror genre, clearly stating that “there are rules that must be followed in order to survive a horror film”. It seems for a portion of the film that film is going to break those rules but eventually it ends up doing just as it should and follows them.
Sidney proves to be one of the best horror heroins ever as she kicks ass in nearly every scene where she is brawling with Ghostface. At the time, Scream was considered quite violent and gory. It took the slasher genre into a new territory.
Drew Barrymore also gets one of the best death scenes in the horror genre as Ghostface's first on-screen victim.
Scream became a blockbuster horror franchise and had two financially successful sequels, and one that didn’t do so well. In my opinion all four films are well done and should be taken mostly as great entertainment.

True Blood Season 5
Episode 12: "Save Yourself"
In the season 5 finale of True Blood, we see Eric finally kill Russell Edgington, staking him right after he drinks the elder faery’s blood. He then saves Sookie from Nora. Eric then convinces Sookie and Jason to help them take down the Vampire Authority.
Throughout the episode Jason sees his parents, which in turn brings back his hatred of vampires.
Luna transformed into Steve Newlin in order to save her daughter Emma. She ends up having a terrific moment in front of a news camera, while Sam makes one of the best kills of the episode(possibly of the season).
Morella makes Andy take responsibility of his new babies after a fantastically funny Merlotte’s birth scene.
Meanwhile, Alcide drinks some vamp blood and kills J.D., taking over the pack.
Eric, Sookie, Bill, and Tara free Pam and Jessica. It is revealed that Tara and Pam were actually together. Eric and Sookie confront Bill after he kills Salome. After Bill drinks Lillith’s blood once again he becomes a stronger(?) vampire.
I thought the finale left everything wide open. Very few questions were answered. They must be leading up to something epic next season because this season had literally no pay-off.

I love this news. It has been reported that Universal Studios wants Jim Carrey to play Colonel Stars in Kick-Ass 2. Could this be the role that could bring Jim back into people's good graces. Hopefully, we'll find out soon :)

True Blood Season 5
Episode 11: "Sunset"
Yay! We’re back! After a brief hiatus our True Blood recap returns. This week we discuss the 10th episode of Season 5!
In this episode we start to see that Lillith may be controlling the vamps even more than we originally thought. Bill is on his highly religious kick and orders Jessica to sire Jason. She isn’t a fan of the idea and ends up saving him.
The Military decides to force an ultimatum on the vamps, telling them they can either mainstream or the human race will be after them.
Sookie is taken to meet the faerie elder who seems a little off her rocker. Jason leads Russell and Steve to the Faeries. Russell then kills the elder and the Faerie night club is revealed to him.
Sam, Luna, Pam, and Jessica are now being held captive by the authority.
An interesting episode to say the least. Let’s hope we get an amazing season finale next week!

Paranorman Review
Rating: 8/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
Paranorman is without a doubt my favourite kids movie of the year so far.
The movie follows a young boy, Norman, who is bullied because he “talks” to dead people and others think he is weird. He meets his other weird friend Neil, who may be the funniest character in the movie, and his brother. Through a series of events the dead are raised from the gorund and Norman must find a way to stop the fury unleashed by a young witch.
If you’re into horror films and kids movies this is the perfect mix for you. Paranorman is very original and funny.
Some of the jokes in the film could be considered quite sexual for children’s movie. The film also features the first openly gay character in a kids film(at least that I’ve ever seen). I’m sure some parents may take issue with this. Needless to say this movie tried to push the envelope of what could be included in a kids movie.
The effects in the movie were well put together and thoughtful. There characters were quite likeable, and the direction was fantastic.
Thank you, Paranorman for allowing us to not go a full year without any decent kids movies.

Sad Sequels
The Halloween Franchise
John Carpenter will be appearing at Toronto’s Fan Expo this year so I thought it would be cool to discuss the sequels to one of his most successful movies, Halloween. Carpenter originally had no plans for a sequel to 1978’s Halloween but the ending seemed almost so wide open that it seems almost necessary for a second part.
Halloween II featured the return of Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance. The film was directed by Phil Rosenthal, but was written by John Carpenter and his writing partner from the first movie, Debra Hill. The movie was about the aftermath of the first film. Laurie Strode(Curtis) ends up in the hospital. Michael Myers got up and walked away after being shot six times by his psychiatrist Dr. Loomis(Pleasance). Loomis continues to try and find Michael before more lives are taken. This is the second-best film in the franchise but a few Sad Sequels were to follow.
The first of which, was Halloween III. John Carpenter and Debra Hill produced the film along with the series’ main producer Moustapha Akkad and others. John thought of the Halloween series as an anthology series, with each sequel following Halloween II to have a different story. In III the plot is about a mask company who uses their masks to kill children. Unfortunately a lot of people did not enjoy the film and it continues to be a true low point in the series. This is mainly due to the popularity that Michael Myers achieved in the first two films. Halloween III was rather boring at times. I haven’t seen the movie in a few years now. Perhaps the film would be better if I viewed it as something other than a Halloween movie.
Moving on to Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers. In this film Michael Myers returns(due to popular demand). Although John Carpenter did not have a hand in the creation of this film his producing partner from the first three films, Moustapha Akkad, returned and decided it was necessary to bring Michael Myers back. In the film Michael is back in Haddonfield to kill his niece Jamie(the daughter of Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode), who is played by young Danielle Harris. Donald Pleasance returns in this film, although visibly suffering from the events at the end of the second film. He once again tries to track Michael down and stop the ensuing violence. The fourth installment is quite well done for a horror sequel so late in the series. It also, has a pretty awesome little twist at the end of the film
Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers was another sequel that wasn’t horrible but was kind of boring at points. And it seemingly ignores the twist at the end of the fourth film. After being shot at at the end of Halloween 4 Michael continues on his quest to kill young Jamie who seems to have telepathy to some degree, is a mute, and is being spending time at a pscychiatric facility. There is also a strange figure(other than Michael) who is walking the streets of Haddonfield who helps Michael to escape his jail cell at the end of the film.
The sixth part in the Halloween series, The Curse Of Michael Myers, is a complete waste of time and effort, and an utter snoozefest featuring Paul Rudd as a grown-up Tommy Doyle and a cult that worships Michael Myers. Oh, and Mikey continues his murderous rampage.
Halloween: H20 was a bit more refreshing and is the second-best sequel(in my opinion) to the series. The film takes place twenty years after the events of the first film. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role of Laurie Strode for the first time since Halloween II. Unfortunately, Dr. Loomis has died by this point in time and Michael is back yet again(I say that with a smile on my face). Michael tracks Laurie(who has been in hiding and teaching at a private school under an alias) and her son John down. Her greatest fears have finally caught up to her and she realizes that she must be the one to finally kill her brother Michael. She chops his head off. The film gives us many homages to the original Halloween.
But then we get to the second-worst(arguably) film in the series, Halloween: Resurrection.
This movie is a complete piece of trash. It turns out that Michael didn’t really get his head chopped off at the end of the last film and he comes back and kills Laurie Strode in the first five minutes. Then returns to Haddonfield for some reason. A bunch of college kids are involved in a web documentary where they must stay the night in the old Michael Myers house for one night. The movie is completely and utterly dumb even for an eighth film in a slasher series. Oh, and Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks gave mind-blowing performances(I say this in the worst possible way).
After that mess it was time for the franchise to be remade!(Like everything else in the last couple years). Luckily I enjoyed this one on a second viewing. Metal musician Rob Zombie was hired to direct the remake and made it completely white trash and gave Michael more of a back story(which wasn’t needed). He had a fairly likeable cast at his disposal including Malcolm McDowell(A Clockwork Orange) as Dr. Loomis, Danielle Harris(who played Jamie in Halloween 4 and 5) and Scout Taylor-Compton as the new Laurie Strode. The film was well put together, so a sequel was greenlit.
Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 is up there with the worst films I have ever seen. He completely twisted the storyline and destroyed everything that was accomplished with his first Halloween. He turned Dr. Loomis into a complete asshole and Laurie Strode into a whiney little b****. And Michael kept seeing a hallucination(?) of his mother with a white horse. The film was ridiculously brutal in terms of violence and made no sense. The only redeeming quality this movie has is the opening scene of Laurie and Michael at the hospital.
And that’s the Halloween franchise in a nutshell. I hope you will be able to avoid Halloween: Resurrection and Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 now. Trust me I just saved you a good three hours or so.

Frightfest Fridays
Halloween(1978)
Director John Carpenter will be making an appearance this year at Toronto’s Fan Expo. I was initially going to discuss Halloween at a later date but thought “to hell with it”.
John Carpenter’s Halloween may not have been the first slasher flick but it was arguably the slasher flick that gave birth to the slasher movie trend in the ‘80s.
The first thing I must discuss is the classic theme music. The music, along with Jamie Lee Curtis’ performance, is what makes the film quite chilling. It creates a great sense of urgency which I feel is unparalleled in the horror genre to date. The song makes you feel scared for the young Laurie Strode(Curtis).
Jamie Lee Curtis gives us possibly the performance of her career and is still in my opinion the scream queen. Her portrayal of Laurie Strode is excellent. Most other horror heroins do not come close to what this character achieved in terms of relatability. You truly feel sorry for this girl as she is stalked by the prolific horror villain Michael Myers.
One by one Michael kills her friends as she babysits little Tommy Doyle and Lindsey Wallace.
Michael’s story himself is quite mysterious as well. In the beginning of the film the six year-old who murders his sister is sent to a psychiatric hospital where he is under the care of Dr. Samuel Loomis(played marvelously by Donald Pleasance). Loomis realizes over the years that Michael is pure evil and when he escapes the institution Loomis tries to track him down before all the madness ensues.
In my opinion this is one of the best horror films ever created. It’s eerie and was quite groundbreaking at the time of it’s release. I think another thing that makes the film work is the love that the audience may have for most of the characters. And some really interesting death scenes.

Funny Moments
"Marty McFly Is Darth Vader"
I thought it would be really awesome this week to show a clip from Back To The Future in honour of Christopher Lloyd's upcoming appearance at Toronto's Fan Expo. In this clip Marty Mcfly(Michael J. Fox) combines sci-fi franchises from the future and the music of Van Halen to give his father George McFly(Crispin Glover) a "nightmare".

The Campaign Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
The new Jay Roach comedy film, The Campaign, Will Ferrell and Zac Galifianakis play congressional candidates Cam Brady and Marty Huggins. Brady is the Bill Clinton character while Huggins is a much more effeminate version of every other character that Galifiankis has ever played.
While I do appreciate Galifianakis’ sense of comedy I am usually a little harder on Will Ferrell. Both were fine in this movie but nothing more.
The film follows their two politicians as they campaign against eachother and some hilarity is served up(including a highly publicized scene of Ferrell punching a baby)
The film is not a high point for anyone’s career overall, but brings a half-decent comedy into a slightly more serious summer Blockbuster season.
The strange thing about this film is there’s not really a ton to say about it because it is so mediocre that it didn’t really have high points or low points. It just kind of coasts.

Top Ten Tuesdays
Top 10 Favourite Comedy Movies
With the recent release of the new film The Campaign starring Will Ferrell and Zac Galifianakis I decided to count down my top 10 Favourite Comedy films! Check out the list below!
10. Airplane! The late great Leslie Neilson made a great comedic impression in this film. The spoof film is a tremendously great at making the audience laugh at completely stupid humour. The film is a classic and will hopefully be remembered as ones for years to come.
9. Home AloneAs a kid I laughed so hard every time Kevin McCallister messed with the two wet bandits, turning them into human-chickens and the like. Can I say that part of what makes this film so funny is Joe Pesci(who plays wet bandit Harry). It’s more about how he says and does things than the actual assault he has a knack for receiving. One of the best scenes also, is when Marv(Daniel Stern) gets hit in the fave with an iron.
8. Wayne's World The opening to this film is completely unforgettable as the
gang sings along in their car to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The film may not be
the funniest film ever made but some of it’s comedic moments may make other
films grovel and say “We are not worthy!”. Let’s also make sure we give some
credit where it is due, to the actors. Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, and Rob Lowe
are all awesome in their roles.
7. Mrs. Doubtfire“Ooh hello dear!!!”. This is perhaps one of Robin Williams’ best roles ever. When Daniel loses custody of his kids in a divorce he dresses as a female housekeeper in order to stay close to them. Of course his pan doesn’t go quite as expected. The hilarity ensues as he throws fruit at people’s head, defends himself against muggers, and deals with everyday situations as a woman.
6. Step BrothersI’ve never been a fan of Will Ferrell but every now and again he will surprsise me ad come out with something like this. Ferrell and co-star John C. Reilly play grown up step brothers who still live with the parents and don’t get along. As much as I thought the white dog poo scene was disgusting it was utterly hilarious.
5. Role ModelsSeann William Scott and Paul Rudd are excellent comedic team in this film but much of it’s laughs come from Christopher Mintz-Plasse and the young Bobb’e J. Thompson. Oh, and Jane Lynch also has some really awesome
scenes in the movie. The scenes near the end at the L.A.I.R.E.(Live Action
Interactive Roleplaying Explorers) game are incredible and will never be forgotten
in my mind.
4. Austin Powers In GoldmemberThe movie is just awesome. You can’t tell me you didn’t laugh at some of Fat Bastard and Goldmember’s scenes. Michael Caine also joins the cast as Austin Powers’ FAJA! He is terrific in the role. The film also includes an awesome scene with Nathan Lane.
3. SuperbadIn my opinion this is the best of the Judd Apatow comedy features. The film stars Jonah Hill and Michael Sarah who are awesome in their respective roles as Seth and Evan. I think what makes this movie so awesome is it probably reminds me more of my high school experience than any other movie. It is so much about who’s cool and who’s not but focuses a little more on a bunch of social clicks that are welcoming to eachother. In most other movies the nerds wouldn’t be invited to the party. Christopher Mintz-Plasse also does a fantastic job in this movie as Fogul A.K.A. McLovin.
2. American PieAmerican Pie is awesome just because it’s one of the few films that really shows just how awkward people are in their teenage years, especially when it comes to their sexuality. The movie featured some pretty vulgar scenes for the time. All the characters in American Pie are relatable and will hold a special pplace in my heart for years.
1. Dumb And DumberIn my opinion Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are one of the best comedy teams to ever grace the silver screen. They are just SO stupid in this film, buit it works. Harry and Llloyd get themselves into some really awesome situations, such as selling a blind child a dead bird and throwing a salt shaker at an angry trucker.

Sad Sequels
Joel Schumacher's Batman Movies
Tim Burton did a fantastic job bringing a dark Batman to the screen back in 1989 and again for the sequel, Batman Returns, in 1992.
Then all his work went down the drain after he declined to return for a third installment. As a result Michael Keaton, who was Burton’s Bruce Wayne/Batman dropped out of the project. He also stated that he did not like the direction the new sequel Batman Forever would take when Joel Schumacher took over in the director’s chair.
Batman Forever, although not a horrible film, was nowhere near what was accomplished in the first two installments. It had a lighter tone and lots of flashy colours.
One thing about the film I thought was strange was despite the fact that Tommy Lee Jones did a good job as Two-Face, he was not a black man as the Harvey Dent who appeared briefly in the first film was. Just kind of random that he suddenly changed skin tones. Also, Two-Face seemed more like a side villain than a “big bad”, which is a little disappointing.
I feel that Jim Carrey would have made a great Riddler had the script not been so riddled with camp as it was. That’s really my only complaint about the character.
Val Kilmer was a solid Batman but not the best. Perhaps he was the best Bruce Wayne to date?
I thought Robin was fairly well done in the film. Chris O’Donnell was a pretty good choice for the role.
Moving on to the fourth film in the series, Batman & Robin. WOW this may just be one of the worst movies ever made. It’s so bad that it’s good.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, who may be completely wrong for his role as Mr. Freeze, just barks out embarrassing ice puns as the movie progresses(or doesn’t progress?).
Uma Thurman was cast as Poison Ivy. I believe she also would have been a great Ivy had the script not been so tremendously horribly written.
A third villain, Bane, is reduced to being a blundering buffoon of a character and only serves as Poison Ivy’s lackey which is just wrong.
Batirl who is supposed to be Barbara Gordon is actually the neice of Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred for some reason, and isn’t really all that impressive in any way.
Moving on to George Clooney(as Batman?), an actor who is supposed to be an A-lister was absolutely terrible in this. He has no depth at all and is possibly the campiest batman besides Adam West. Clooney even felt the need to apologize for this film, that’s how horrible it was.
I thought maybe I shouldn’t bring this up as it would be unoriginal but I’m gonna do it anyway: WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THE NIPPLES ON THE BATSUIT?!
Oh, and why does Batman have a Bat visa? Wouldn’t that be any easy way to track him?
Thanks Joel for giving us the two worst Batman movies ever.

Dead-Alive(A.K.A. Braindead)
A long time before director Peter Jackson worked on his popular Lord Of The Rings trilogy he directed a little film in New Zealand called Dead-Alive.
The story of the film is that a girl is destined to meet her true love after a tarot card reading reveals so. She finds him in the form of Lionel, a man who is heavily controlled by his mother.
An infected rat-monkey(a hybrid creature) is brought to the zoo where Lionel takes the girl, Paquita Maria Sanchez, on date. Lionel’s mother finds them at the zoo but is soon bitten by the rat-monkey and infected. The scene itself is quite gorey but is absolutely hysterically weird in some way.
At home Lionel’s mother goes through a traumatic experience as her skin starts to fall off. Some really awkward moments ensue. She becomes a zombie and the viruse spreads to others such as a nurse and a priest who “kicks ass in the name of the lord!”. Somehow the priest and the nurse have a baby zombie as well.
Lionel attempts to keep everything a secret but things start to spiral out of control and results in one of the biggest gore-fests in a horror film to date.
It’s a miracle that Lionel is able to keep the girl of his dreams after what he puts her through.
Yes, the movie is quite stupid but it can be a fun watch.

Deadmau5's New Single "Professional Griefers"
The first single "Professional Griefers from Deadmau5's upcoming album Album Title Goes Here features Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance. I'm still not sure how I feel about this song, despite enjoying both artists. Let's see if it'll grow on me. You can take a listen below.
Ben Affleck May Direct Justice League Movie
I personally do not know how I feel about this. As of right now it's mostly just speculation but apparently there's a good chance Ben Affleck will be assigned to the Justice League film project. Ben Affleck has proven his directing abilities recenlty(especially with the well-received The Town). A Justice League film could hit theatres as early as 2015.

Sad Sequels
The Nightmare On Elm Street Series
Our new feature called “Sad Sequels” will discuss film franchises that have had some very disappointing sequels throughout the course of time.
As posted earlier this week horror director Wes Craven is currently working on a film project entitled Coming Of Rage so I thought it would be a good opportunity to look at one of the franchises that he started: The Nightmare On Elm Street Series.
The first sequel, entitled A Nightmare On Elm Street 2, really doesn’t make much sense in the first place. It was an ok movie that was basically there to make money and as much as I still enjoy the film it is a bit of a low poin in the series for me.
The third installment, A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, was the second film in the series to be written by Wes Craven. It brought about some new ideas such as “what would happen if these kids decided to use their dreams to fight Freddy instead of cowering in fear”. This one was one of the best in the series. It features some of the coolest death scenes in the franchise including the string puppet kill. Oh, and Robert Englund delivers one of his best performances as Freddy Krueger.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, took the premise of the third film and basically allowed one of Freddy’s victim’s to fight him with the powers of the other kids. The film has some bad moments but overall it’s an ok ride.
Now we move into the lowest dips in the series.
A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child is all about Freddy’s child being born to Alice from part 4. The movie is rather dull and just doesn’t achieve what the four previous installments did. Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare is most definitely the worst installment. With over-the-top kills that just seem ridiculous even in the Nightmare world, the film really drowns and even Robert Englund can’t save it. Maybe that’s due to his constant one-liners.
Wes Craven’s New Nightmare was just as dull as part five despite the fact that it marks Wes Craven, Heather Langenkamp, and Johnny Depp’s returns to the franchise. This one basically throws the continuity of the first six films out the window and brings about a suggestion that the first stix stories were really just movies.
Then we have Freddy Vs. Jason, which is an all-out brawl between Freddy and other 80s slasher Jason Voorhees of the Friday The 13th Franchise. This film is tremendously fun for me to watch and despite the fact that it plays with continuity it really is a blast.
Finally, the latest entry in the franchise is a complete remake of the original film and is the first time that Freddy Krueger was not played by Robert Englund but Jackie Earle Haley(Watchmen). The trailers for this film looked promising but the film dragged on too long and also showed a lack of imagination while trying to reimagine one of the best horror classics. Haley’s performance is hindered by the prosthetics and make-up on his face and he is nowhere near as dynamic as Robert Englund.
So that’s the Nightmare On Elm Street Sequels in a nut-shell. Despite the fact that it did have some poor films I enjoy the franchise as a whole and I hope that one day we can have another good A Nightmare On Elm Street film.

Frightfest Fridays
A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984)
Fright Fest Fridays is a new feature to our site, which will discuss a single horror film every week.
With director Wes Craven collaborating on a new project with comic book author Steve Niles, I thought it would be cool if the first film we talked about was one of Craven’s classics.
The film A Nightmare On Elm Street(1984) is most likely the man’s ultimate classic. The film stars Heather Langenkamp and a young Johnny Depp(in his very first feature film), and Robert Englund as the iconic Freddy Krueger. Craven also wrote the film.
The film is one slasher film that looks at the horror genre and asks “what if there was nowhere left to run to or hide?” and “what if the killer could catch you in your dreams?”. This is a frightful thought indeed.
The plot focuses on young Nancy, a teenager who’s friends have just been murdered in their sleep by the Springwood Slasher, Freddy Krueger who was a child killer(and potentially a molester) who was burned to death in a fire lit by the town’s parents. Nancy starts to see Freddy in her dreams and struggles to stay awake. Her family starts to think she is going nuts.
The original A Nightmare On Elm Street features some really interesting death scenes. Especially, Johnny Depp’s which in my opinion is one of the best horror death scenes of all time.
Robert Englund does a fantastic job in the film as the kids’ tormenter and is truly menacing. His portrayal of Freddy Krueger set the bar for slashers even higher during the 1980s and is still praised as one of the greatest horror villains of all time. There’s also a little chant that is spoken during the film that became quite iconic(1, 2 Freddy’s coming for you!)
So if you’re in the mood for an old school horror film, may I suggest A Nightmare On Elm Street?

Prometheus Sequel On The Way?
It has been revealed today that 20th Century Fox is planning on releasing a sci-fi thriller project in 2014 or 2015. It has not been officially announced but speculation insists that it is the follow-up to Ridley Scott's Alien prequel, Prometheus. This is highly likely as plans for a sequel were discussed before production of the first film began shooting and some of it's stars are contracted for more than one film including Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace.

Wes Craven And Steve Niles To Collaberate On Coming Of Rage
Wes Craven has been pretty quiet since the release and poor box office performance of Scream 4 but the horror icon is back to work and his new project is called Coming Of Rage. He will be working with comic book author Steve Niles. The film will also receive a comic book treatment.
Welcome back Wes! Make it a good one!

Top Ten Tuesdays
Top 10 Favourite TV Villains
This was one of the most difficult lists for me as there are so many villains out there and they generally are some of the best characters out there. Let's count 'em down!
10. Sue Sylvester(Glee)Sue seems to have a love-hate relationship with the glee club at McKinley High. Most of the time she goes out of her way to sabotage them and the rivalry between her and Will Schuster is quite hilarious at times. Played phenominally by Jane Lynch, the woman is one of the funniest parts of the show and always leaving you questioning her motives. She is what made Glee what it was in the first few seasons. Unfortunately, the show has started to go downhill.
9. Maryann Forrester(True Blood)Mary-Ann is a supe(supernatural being) called a Maenad. First, appearing in the final episodes of season 1, Maryann gives Tara a place to stay after her mother abandons her. Tara and her new boyfriend Eggs fall under the control of Mary Ann's power. Forrester puts the whole town under a spell and searches for Sam Merlott to sacrifice to the god Dionysus. Maryann is a manipulative b**** and is underestimated throughout the course of season 2. She proves to be a force to reckon with.
8. Marnie Stonebrook/Antonia(True Blood) Marnie is a witch who is possessed by another witch from the past, Antonia. Antonia hates vampires after they raped and killed her in Spain. Marnie and Antonia cast a spell over Eric and make hime forget who he is and all the horrible things he has done, making him as cuddly as kitten. Together, they attempt to make all vampires walk out into the sun to meet their true death. These two ladies eventually go mad with anger and hold hostages inside a magic shop, leading to an epic second-last episode of season 4.
7. Mr. Charles Montgomery Burns(The Simpsons)This character is as he would say.... EXCELLENT!! Mr. Burns is Homer Simpson's boss at the nuclear plant who constantly forgets Simpson's name. Throughout the series Burns has done many mischievious things such as block out the sun and use six pack rings to capture sea animals and turn them into Little Lisa Slurry. He is also frequently asking Smithers to release the hounds and evades charities in every possible way.
6. Eric Cartman(South Park)This little shit is probably the most evil little kid anyone has every seen on television. As displayed in an episode, he puts Bart Simpson to shame. It's quite possible that one of the most despicable(yet strangely hilarious) things Cartman has ever done was make Scott Tenorman eat his own parents and then licking the tears of his face. Cartman has also notably supported a fight between his two handicapped "friends" Timmy and Jimmy. Cartman is the most selfish, rude little guy on TV, and frankly it's hilarious.
5. Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell(Prison Break)T-Bag is potentially one of the most manipulative characters on TV in recent years. He is a rapist, pedophile, and murder trying to escape prison. While in prison he will stop at nothing to make sure he is included in whatever plans Michael Scofield and his brother have to escape. When he's on the outside he slithers around doing anythign and everything he has to to not get caught.
4. Ava Moore(Nip/Tuck)The villain that makes the show in the show's second season. Ava begins to mentor the surgeons' young son Matt as a life coach. They become romantically and sexually involved. This causes tension between Matt and his family. Ava continues to manipulate them all for the rest of the season. We soon find out that she has also had sexual relations with her own son, who is Matt's age and that opens up a whole new can of worms. Her story arc is among the best the show ever had. Famke Janssen, who plays Ava, is enthralling the whole way through.
3. Mayor Richard Wilkins(Buffy The Vampire Slayer)The Mayor is one of Buffy's best villains. He is a father figure to slayer-gone-bad, Faith, and encourages her to "come to the dark side" in a sense. He becomes the "big bad" or main villain of season 3. The best part of the mayor is that he always seems so chipper despite the fact that he is an evil demon that is planning on changing to his demon form(a huge worm thing) at the Scooby Gang's high school graduation. This makes for one of the best season finales in the history of TV as far as I am concerned.
2. Spike(Buffy The Vampire Slayer)Let's put it this way, before Spike came around in season 2, Buffy never had a villain to truly intimidate her. In Spike's first major appearance he proves to be a force of destruction. Throughout the series he proves to be a master manipulator. Yes, he eventually turns good but when he's bad he's a nasty little f***er that needs a serious ass-whooping.
1. Sideshow Bob(The Simpsons)Throughout the course of the series Sideshow Bob has tried and tried again to kill Bart Simpson. He can be quite hilarious at times. This is especially true in an episode where The Simpsons become a part of the witness relocation program and he gets crushed by elephants, pricked by cactuses and meets his second arch enemy: rakes. His plans are continually thwarted but he is a criminal mastermind in my books.

X-Men: First Class Sequel May Feature The Sentinals!!!!!
There are rumours that 20th Century Fox has purchased the web URL DaysOfFuturePast.com and have titled the upcoming X-Men First Class sequel X-Men: Days Of Future Past after the two-issue story arc which follows the X-Men into an alternate future. The alternate future takes place after the Brotherhood Of Mutants kills a senator. In the future The Sentinals(massive and dangerous robots) hunt down mutants.
I have wanted to see The Sentinals since the very first X-Men movie came out and I can't wait to see where this project goes with this particular story arc.

Trailer For Horror Film Chained
Chained is a straight-to-dvd release from director Jennifer Lynch. I saw this trailer and thought this looks rather interesting. The DVD is set for release on October 2nd. It looks like it is rather violent and kind of disturbing so if you do not like horror films of this sort then I would think twice about watching the trailer :P
Anne Hathaway Has Interest In A Catwoman Spin-Off
After doing an excellent job as Christopher Nolan's version of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, Anne Hathaway has stated that she would be interested in seeing more of the character if it were in the right hands. This is what she had to say:
"I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it's with the right people," Hathaway said. "She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least."

True Blood Season 5
Episode 7: "In The Beginning"
**Spoiler Alert**
Last night’s episode of True Blood revealed to us that Salome was the one who helped Russell get free. The reason was because she knew Russell was the only one who could kill Roman. The vampires then drink the blood of innocents and Lillith appears and commands them to continue but Eric sees Godric, who tells him he must save Nora.
Sookie finds out that if she uses her powers to much she may lose them and finally become “normal”. In the final moments of the episode we see her trying to waste them by shooting light into the night sky. After Jason finds out Jessica was feeding on a random person he sees the lights in the sky.
Sam finds his shooters and confronts one of them at the hospital.
Hoyt joins a vampire hate group.
Alcide trains for his brawl with J.D. and seems to be falling for his potential second-in-comand.
Tara's mother confronts her about being a vampire. Pam then comforts Tara.
While searching for Jesus’ body Lafayette is captured by Jesus’ grandfather, who sews up his mouth, ties him to a chair, and tries to take back some magic. Lafayette is however saved.
Cool episode, but part of me wishes this season would just hit it’s climax already. I guess we’ll have to see if that happens next week.

The Dark Knight Rises Review
Rating: 8.5/10
Excitement rating before film: 8/10
Christopher Nolan… a man who deserves all the praise he can get. Not only has he given us one of the best trilogies of all time, he gave us perhaps the best superhero film series of all time as well. His latest and final journey into the world of the Batman feels like a different movie altogether and differentiates itself from the first to. This is necessary due to the time gap between this film and the previous installment. Eight years have gone by since the events of The Dark Knight.
Nolan’s action sequences are spectacular to watch, so just sit back and enjoy.
The plot is generally well thought out with a few mistakes here and there but if you can get passed that then you are set to be in awe of the movie. It does however, move a little slow in the beginning in order to build up to the action in the last half of the movie.
Now let’s discuss the actor’s performances, starting with Batman/Bruce Wayne himself.
Christian Bale delivers the same quality of performance as he did in the two previous installments. He makes a fine Batman and Bruce Wayne and is probably closest cast to the character than any other previous Batman actor. His performance was nothing to be in awe of but still good.
Gary Oldman, who plays Comissioner Gordon is still excellent, although his character seems less heroic than he was in The Dark Knight. Morgan Freeman plays Lucius Fox, Wayne Enterprises’ CEO and Bruce Wayne’s personal artillery manager. He is very good as well. Michael Caine, who plays Alfred, on the other hand…. is one of the most excellent parts of the movie, he brings much of it’s emotional depth.
Tom Hardy plays the new villain Bane to a good degree. Unfortunately, some of his excellent performance seems to be hindered by the mask that his character wears, which makes him difficult to understand at times.
Anne Hathaway plays Nolan’s version of Catwoman, with great success, although she is still not the defining Catwoman. She did a great job and like Michael Caine was one of the best parts of the movie.
Marion Cotillard plays Miranda Tate and fills the role perfectly as we all expected but her character has a few surprises in store.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a terrific role in this film as officer John Blake, who helps Batman to help the people of Gotham City. His character also gives us a few surprises.
This movie brings the series full circle and is one of the greatest third movies in a series. Thank you Christopher Nolan for taking the adventure with us and deciding that a third film was worth doing.

Kevin Richardson To Rejoin The Backstreet Boys!
Kevin Richardson will be rejoining the Backstreet Boys for a show in New York City on August 31 as well as for a new album due out next year. The album will be in honour of the group's 20th Anniversary(that's scary to think that it's been that long). It will be their eight studio album.

Finding Nemo Sequel Is In The Works
I was never a huge fan of the first film but many consider the original Finding Nemo to be one of Pixar's best films. The film starred Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Alexander Gould. The upcoming sequel is supposed to follow their characters Marlin, Dory, and Nemo as the first film did. A writer, Victoria Strouse, has been hired to work on the film, which has a potential 2016 release date.

Top Ten Tuesdays
Top 10 Favourite Superhero/Supervillain Emblems
With just three days remaining until the final chapter in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy I decided to take a look at all the superhero and supervillain logos. Then I thought, let's make that the Top Ten Tuesdays list.... so here... we... go!
10. X-MenThis is one of the few superhero logos that I think there is not much to say about. For some reason it's just awesome. Perhaps it's the fact that it kind of stands for peace and tolerance, as that is what the X-Men kind of stand for.
9. RobinThe boy wonder's logo is just awesomely slick in my opinion and yet still child-like and fun. It's less terrifying than seeing the bat symbol in the sky but you know when you see this one Batman probably isn't far behind.
8. The Flash This is one of the classic ones. I've always believed The Flash to be one of DC's best characters and the emblem just sums the character up wonderfully.
7. Captain AmericaCaptain America's emblem is perfect because it symbolizes everything that he stands for: freedom, liberty, and patriotism. Also, it makes this list simply because it looks BADASS with the rest of winghead's suit. The emblem also appears on the front of his shield which makes it even more kickass!
6. NightwingDick Gracin may have displayed an awesome emblem as Bruce Wayne's young ward, but it gets better when he branches off on his own. This newer emblem says "Criminals, here's another name you should fear". Like Captain America's emblem, it looks BADASS on his costume as well.
5. SupermanDespite the fact that I DESPISE Superman himself, his logo is awesome! It says POWER! It also says HERO! and STRENGTH! Not to mention it also reminds you of innocence and humanity.
4. Spider-ManSpider-Man's emblem is awesome because it features a truly predatorial creature that is also very scientific. It's very symbolic of Peter Parker's life even outside of his Spider-Man outfit. It's all about the webs he weaves in his everyday life not just the ones he catches criminals in. Finally, the emblem just says "I'm gonna catch you, bad guys".
3. VenomSeemingly a more POISONOUS version of Spider-Man's emblem. This emblem announces that Venom is not to be f***ed with. It's also quite terrifying to look at but cool at the same time.
2. BatmanThe symbol that says "watch out! I'm coming for you", "I am a creature of the night". It's symbolic because Batman is a master detective. The analogy is that Batman may not be a part of your criminal world but at night he uses his detective skills like a bat uses echo location to find it's prey. He strikes fear into the hearts of criminals. But the bat symbol is also a beacon of light in the night sky to those who need protection.
1. The PunisherThe Punisher's emblem is one of the most iconic symbols in comics. It puts the man's hunger for vengeance on display for everyone he seeks it on. This symbol basically makes the statement "The mob killed my family, and now they're all going to die". The skull is very grim, which is cathartic in it's portrayal of The Punisher's attitude.

True Blood Season 5
Episode 6: "Hopeless"
**Spoiler Alert**
Last night’s episode of True Blood was fairly well done.
In the beginning of the episode we saw Russell attempt to feed on Sookie while wolves attacked Bill, Eric, and Alcide. The Vampire Authority then took Russell into custody and Bill fake-glamoured Sookie as Eric actually glamoured Alcide and made him believe he was repulsed by Sookie. He later challenges J.D. as pack leader. Meanwhile, Eric comes to the realization that Nora may have freed Russell.
Pam stops the fight between Jessica and Tara. She then declares to Tara just how proud of her she is.
Lafayette discovers that he and his mother have both received aperilous message from Jesus.
After being shot Sam and Luna end up in the hospital. Marcus’ mother shows up and assures them that Emma(Luna’s daughter) will be safe with her while the shifter murders continue. Sam, with the help of Andy heads to a store that sells supernatural killing products and saves Andy’s life.
Sookie and Jason visit the faery night club and are told that a vampire had killed their parents after smelling Sookie’s blood on a band-aid years ago.
The curse that afflicts Terry makes him break up with Arlene out of fear that the Ifrit will harm her and the kids.
In a surprise ending, Russell inflicts the true death upon Roman, the head of the Vampire Authority, after he is almost killed himself.
The episode moved faster than most of the other ones this season and once again continues to thicken the plot. Let’s hope this leads to an amazing second half of the season because so far Season 5 is far from the best.

Green Day's New Single "Oh Love"
So Green Day's first single from ¡Uno! has hit the web!
My thoughts on the song are that it is quite awesome. It has a very classic rock feel to it and great sing-along potential. It seems a bit repitive but hopefully I can get passed that the more I listen to the song.
You can take a listen at the Green Day Authority website.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Will Return To The Web For Second Season
After the successful first season, the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy, which is based on the video games, will return to the web for a second season. This is exciting news for me. I can't wait to see where they go with the second season.
There was also talks about a reboot to the film franchise, which was highly welcomed. The status on the project is currently unknown.

Four Geeks, Four Interviews
Day 4: Meagan Beck
Alright so for the final Interview in our series we have our happy little hobbit Meagan Beck! who was actually quite busy by the time I was responsible enough to get her interview to her so I must thank her for her patience. We hope you have enjoyed our interviews. Let's read what Meagan had to say!
Q: Hello Meagan, I just wanted to say you’ve done a fantastic job with your contributions to the site and the podcast. My first question for you today is what book was the first book to ever catch your attention and made you want to read more books after that?
A: Thanks Jon, I love helping out with the site. The first book I read that made me want to read more was a book from a series called the saddle club, which was about three friends who belonged to the same horse ridding club. It was actually a book given to my sister for Christmas that I took over when I was 11, hell I probibly read at least 15 book from that series before discovering Harry potter when I was twelve.
Q: What is your favourite book of all time and why?
A: My all time favourite book is the Harry potter books, I want to go to hogwarts! I love them because they took me on a magical journey to a world so fascinating that a theme park was created for it! Also the writing is fantastic, and in each book there is a mystery that Harry has to solve that kept me guessing to the end.
Q: Do you enjoy working on the site and the podcast?
A: I do enjoy working on the site and especially on the podcast
Lol four geeks and a pizza is my crew, and it means working on something fun with some cool people.
Q: If there was one question you could ask the listeners of Four Geeks And A Pizza! what would it be?
A: I would ask the listeners to give us more constructive critiscm.
Q: Out of the three other geeks who would you say is the most entertaining?
A: Kyle is the most entertaining, he is my partner in crime on the podcast and never fails to make me chuckle
Q: If you can be any character you have ever read about or watched in a movie who would you be?
A: Lol I want to be willow rosenburge because she is super awesome.
Q: If you could meet any celebrity who would it be?
A: I want to meet Joss Whedon, he has been involved in so many of the shows and movies I love, Kevin smith and jk Rowling would be a very close second and third.
Q: How has the recording process of Four Geeks And A Pizza! changed over the course of the first eleven episodes?
A: We get less and less professional, which I think adds to the overall vibe, if not the flow of the show lol
Q: Do you think the podcast will be something that lasts a long time?
A: I think the podcast will last as long as we're still having fun with it. Although everything changes and that might affect the frequency or length of the show as our lives change.
Q: What things would you change about the podcast?
A: I we should put Jason on a leash lol or maybe implement a talking stick, not that it would help but it would be funny to watch us all fight over it. i think we should put Jason on a leash.
Q: Do you feel that you are the authority on books when it comes to the rest of the group?
A: I defiantly don't consider myself any kind of authority on books, hell the last few books I read that I really loved we recommended to me by Kyle
Q: Are there any new features that you are planning on bringing to the website or the podcast?
A: I would love to add a feature, I just can't come up with anything I think is a cool enough idea.
Q: What do you think Jon.com has accomplished in the first year of running the website?
A: I think we've accomplished a lot! 12 awesome podcasts, more new features and topic pages than I can name and our awesome Facebook page! Not to mention a drastic increase in our average site views!
Q: What did you think about the fact that Jon wanted to change the site to Four Geeks And A Pizza.com?
A: I thought it was a really flattering and fun idea! I love to give Jon hell, but he's such a sweetheart!
Q: Do you think that a lot of people still read books? If not what do you think the reasons are?
A: People defiantly still read books! Especially recently with so many movies and shows being based on them.
Q: Do you feel that movie adaptations of books are necessary?
A: Necessary no, but I do think it's defiantly helped chapters out in sales! And made some really great movies. Also, I think it's better than the constant remake trend. All that being said the book is always better than the movie. Thanks for having me for this interview!

1 YEAR OF JON.COM
WOW!!! has it really been a year already?!
I find it incredible that the site is still doing well even a year later. People continue to be enthusiastic about it and I couldn't be happier with that. I would like to thank every single visitor to the site, whether they only looked at the site once or hundreds of times. Thank you for showing me such great support! I hope you will continue to do so.
Speaking of support, I would like to personally thank my fellow geeks Kyle Moffat, Meagan Beck, and Jason Revington for joining the site as contributors. Also, I would like to thank Jake McDowell and Sci Fi Cafe for joining our team. You have all done a fantastic job and I'm very lucky to have such a great support team.
As many may know, tomorrow(July 14, 2012) Jon.com will become Four Geeks And A Pizza.com(fourgeeksandapizza.weebly.com). And it will become our site. Many of the site's existing features will continue on and we as a team will try to bring in new ones. We are all tremendously excited to work on this project.
In closing, I set out with the creation of this site one year ago to start discussions on entertainment with the theory that everyone is a geek for something. So I incorporated top 10 lists and box office results. Originally, I had music features(although many of these eventually got stale, at least in my mind). I took a poll this week that seemed to get a very broad response. Many wanted us to focus on music, books, and games. Of course movies had a huge amount of support too. What surprised me was some people wanted more events coverage. So we're going to try our best in that department and most definately try to focus on all areas of the site.
In February of 2012 the site introduced it's new podcast which would later be named Four Geeks And A Pizza!. It has received very positive reception and we will continue to record new episodes every two weeks.
It has been a pleasure,
Thanks again,
Jon Franz

The First Trailer For Sam Raimi's Oz The Great And Powerful!
The first trailer for Sam Raimi's Wizard Of Oz Prequel has hit the web! It looks pretty good but I haven't decided whether or not I'm completely enthralled by it so far. I am a big Sam Raimi fan so hopefully he can pull this one together nicely. You can view the trailer below.
Four Geeks, Four Interviews
Day 3 Interview with the CEO Jon Franz
I conducted an interview with Jon Franz for this weeks Four Geeks and an Interview Segment. Here it is
1. Why did you decide to bring Meagan, Kyle and Jason in as contributors on the Website?
I decided to bring them in because I thought they offered a lot of insight into topics I didn’t fully understand or wasn’t really interested in and would allow for a more well-rounded site. We had also done probably four or five podcasts together and I knew they would all bring something awesome. I haven’t been proven wrong yet so it was a great choice I think.
2. Are there any television shows that you do not currently watch but that you would like to get in to?
I would love to go back and watch some older shows like Melrose Place, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, and The Sopranos. Yes that’s a strange cocktail of shows right there but i don’t discriminate. Torchwood looked fairly interesting as well. Oh, and Weeds, Being Human U.K., and a whole bunch of others!
3. Do you think the term Geek is overused in today’s society?
I don’t believe it’s overused. I think being a geek can apply to anything. When I set out to create the site I wanted it to be a site that didn’t discriminate against any particular genres. I want it to appeal to anything because I believe you can be a geek for anything. Some people are sci-fi geeks, some people are geeks for shows like Ugly Betty or The O.C. and I can appreciate that. So no I don’t think it’s overused. Perhaps it’s been broadened if anything.
4. If you could choose any literary hero to face off against any non literary hero in a battle to the death which two would you choose and who do you think would win and why?
That’s a really entertaining question. But it’s difficult to answer. I’ve thought of some funny ones in my head but they might be a bit offensive and people might not understand my sense of humour despite my amount of respect for the non-literary heroes. So for now I think I’ll keep my mouth shut. I guess I could kind of say Abraham Lincoln vs. Angel from Buffy in light of Abe’s recent movie appearance.
5. Are you happy with where the website has gone over this past year?
I am totally happy with where the website has gone over the past year. It got away from being a solo project to a bit of a family thing. When I asked the others to join as contributors it really helped to broaden up the audience and that was great. I think the site is a great place to chat up others who have similar interests. We’ve also been trying to incorporate new features every now and again to help the discussions continue. I think we’ve also had a lot more recognition within the last little while from the amount of effort we put in. It feels great.
6. What are your expectations for viewership for the website?
My expectations are not tremendously high for it. As much as I would love for it to be really successful, I have said time and time again, it’s not about the number of people, it’s about having a good time and we’re going to keep doing what we do until we don’t want to do it anymore. We just want to have a good time with it. I would love to see the site reach the 1000 page views in one day mark some day though. That would be as Meagan would say “nifty”.
7. If you could get any 10 guests at a Convention who would they be?
I would love to have Steven Spielberg, Stan Lee is always welcome, Alyson Hannigan, Heath Ledger(despite the fact that it can’t happen yet), Joss Whedon, Kane Hodder(he played Jason for a while), Christopher Lloyd, Sam Neill, Steve Ditko, and Jorge Garcia. But that’s a really rough list. There’s TONS more people I would love to meet so it’s difficult to choose.
8. Do you agree with Jason that a lot of the bloggers and especially those posting on the message boards can be “pretentious pricks?”
I will agree with him that some people are very pretentious and post nonsense on message boards. I believe that the majority of the bloggers are just like everyone else. I will say that I despise trolls, the people who will read an article about something they dislike just to write a comment that speaks negatively about it or to put the fans of that particular thing down. To give the film or music or whatever a piece of constructive criticism I think is good but when you write something for the sake of attention or to make fun of someone else it’s just stupid and uncalled for.
9. What is your favourite segment of the website that an other contributor has created and what is your favourite you have created?
My favourite feature that I have created is most definitely the podcast. But I also love doing the movie reviews. In terms of the stuff others have brought to the site I am a big fan of the Thursday TV bin, which was created by Jason Revington. I think it’s something really cool to look back on an old show and talk about why you loved it. I liked the thought of bringing in interviews as well.
10. How much money do you think The Dark Knight Rises is going to make total North American Domestic Box Office?
I think The Dark Knight Rises will make at least $400 million. I think it still has a really strong following despite the fact that Heath is no longer with them. Anne Hathaway will possibly bring more of a female audience to the film. IMAX screenings won’t hurt it as well. I think they’ve done a great job of promoting this mystery behind Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character as well and we will see how many people are intrigued by whatever is going on with his character.

Four Geeks, Four Interviews
Day 2: Kyle Moffat
Alright! In day two of our Four Geeks, Four Interviews series I interviewed games geek Kyle Moffat. He gave us some more insight into what trends he sees coming in the gaming world as well as what he likes about being a part of our team! Let's get things started!
Q: Hello Kyle, I just wanted to say you’ve done a fantastic job with your contributions to the site and the podcast. My first question for you today is what book was the first game to ever get you hooked? And why?
A: Hello Jon. Thanks for having me! I've had a great time working with my fellow podcasters and writing on the site. I think everyone is doing such a great job. I can say confidently, that the first game that ever got me hooked was Mortal Kombat 3. I couldn't stop playing the game. It was the first fighter style game I had ever played and the characters and they're unique abilities are what made the game for me. There was, at the time, so much variety with the characters. Plus, watching a game character have his spine ripped out was just awesome
Q: What is your favourite game of all time and why?
A: Picking a favorite game of all time is a tough one. If I had to chose one though I would probably say it was Mortal Kombat. If I had to pick a specific Mortal Kombat I'd have to pick the newest Mortal Kombat that was released in 2011. It had all of the features of the original Mortal Kombat games that made them so awesome. A wide variety of characters, over-the-top gore , multiple stages WITH stage fatalities, and plenty of replay value. Mortal Kombat games have always held a special place in my heart.
Q: Do you enjoy working on the site and the podcast?
A: I love working on the site and podcast. It gives me an opportunity to talk about video games, books, and movies I love and want to share with others. Plus, working with the other podcasters makes it that much more enjoyable
Q: What does Four Geeks And A Pizza! mean to you?
A: It's a place I can talk with friends about topics I very much enjoy that I wouldn't get to about in such depth with others. It's where I can geek out on a particular topic and listen to others opinions on the topic. I can spend time with friends, AND eat pizza
Q: If there was one question you could ask the listeners of Four Geeks And A Pizza! what would it be?
A: What else would they like to see? What do we do that they enjoy and if my voice sounds weird??
Q: Out of the three other geeks who would you say is the most entertaining?
A: That's a tough question. I think that the geeks are all entertaining in their own individual way. Jon is definitely the serious one out of the bunch of us. He's the one keeping direction and making sure we all stay on topic. But he's funny too and likes to joke around with us. Jason is the talker. He likes the topics we talk about and he always has a definitive opinion and will let you know. Meagan is like my partner in crime. She's funny and interested in many great topics and always keeps everyone smiling. If I had to pick the most entertaining I would say Meagan. She's the one who joins me on the quest to annoy Jason and Jon!
Q: If you could have created any video game which one would it have been?
A: If I could have created any game I would say it would have been Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. It's an old game that was for the Xbox. You played a character who had a couple psychic powers and had to fight others like yourself. It was a game that pretty much took over a year of my life, and if I could I would probably still be playing it today from time to time.
Q: What is your favourite console and why?
A: My favorite console would have to be the Xbox 360. I have always been an Xbox fan and am still loyal to them. I played the same games with Xbox 360 and PS3 and have to say I preferred the Xbox 360 every time. I feel the Xbox 360 has less pop-in, quick loading textures, more detailed characters and environments, and runs smoother while doing all of the above. It also had a wider selection of games available for it that I enjoy, and I like the Xbox Live feature over the PlayStation store.
Q: Do you think the Podcast should focus on games more often?
A: I think we could use a little more game talk. I don't think we don't give games any attention but I do feel we could talk about them a bit more. We'd have to get the podcasters playing more games though
Q: Jon has stated that his goal with the podcast was to have a place that started a discussion amongst people with similar interests and bring something interactive to the website. Do you think there are any other goals the group is trying to achieve? If so what would they be?
A: I think we are achiving Jon's goal perfectly. We are letting the listeners interact with us as we discuss topics and I feel we are steadily gaining listeners. I feel we are still stirivng for Jon's goal and that it still is our primary focus.
Q: Do you think the podcast will be something that lasts a long time?
A: I do think so yes. It's a place for people to talk about their interests and interact with us. I think there will always be people that would enjoy that and the podcast will continue because of that.
Q: What things would you change about the podcast?
A: I don't think there is much I would change about the podcast. I feel that it is in a great place at the moment and we will adapt as we need to. I think it would be fun to have more viewer input days though. It's nice to hear what other have to say about the podcast and website
Q: What things wouldn’t you change about it?
A: I wouldn't the entire podcast. At the moment I think we are at a good place and will continue towards more good things. I wouldn't change the topics we discuss, and I wouldn't change the way we do things. I feel we are doing a great job
Q: Do you feel that you are the authority on games when it comes to the rest of the group?
A: I don't want to think of myself as the only games playing member. I do feel that I have more experience with video games and play a variety of them. I know the other members each have their own video games they play but I do feel that I play the most out of all of us
Q: Are there any new features that you are planning on bringing to the website or the podcast?
A: I would like to post more often on books and games I have played but there is nothing for sure that I am planning at the moment
Q: What do you think Jon.com has accomplished in the first year of running the website?
A: I think we have accomplished a lot. The Jon.com website has expanded and come to include the 4 geeks own individual pages to talk about their interests. It has added a podcast that, I believe, has a great group of passionate co-hosts and listeners.
Q: What did you think about the fact that Jon wanted to change the site to Four Geeks And A Pizza.com?
A: I think it was a great idea. The website has expanded to include so much new content than it did in the beginning. It fits to give it a new name as it expands and continues to improve
Q: How do you think games will change over the next ten years? What trends do you see coming?
A: I think we're in for some big changes. I am beginning to see a trend in online games going with the F2P(Free to Play) method. The graphics are continually improving and I can only see them getting more intricate as time passes. Games are beginning to put more of an emphasis on the story. Many of the newer games coming out are beginning to have a deeper and more involving story than games I have played in the past, which helps the player become invested in the characters. I'm looking forward to see what the gaming industry is going to come out with next.
Q: Many films frachises get rebooted. Do you think there are any games franchises that need to be rebooted?
A: I can't think of any games that need to be rebooted. When a game is rebooted it usually ends up being an older game. One of the best reboots I can think of at the moment was the most recent Mortal Kombat game. They pulled features from the previous Mortal Kombat titles that made it great and added them all together in a new updated game. Other than that I can't think of any games at the moment I'd like to have rebooted.
Q: What is your favourite film adaptation of a game?
A: I can't think of very many games that were adapted from films that actually held my interest. If I had to pick one I would have to say Batman Arkham City. I don't know if that counts since, really, it's adapted from the comics. But they did make Batman movies!

Green Day Unveil Trailer For New Single "Oh Love"
This is great news! their first single for the first album of their upcoming trilogy will be released on July 16. They have provided a trailer for the song which you can watch below.
Four Geeks, Four Interviews
Day 1: Jason Revington
In honour of the upcoming site switch to Four Geeks And A Pizza.com we will be posting a series of interviews with the four geeks themselves. We are starting off with Jason Revington... enjoy the read.
Q: Hello Jason, I just wanted to say you’ve done a fantastic job with your contributions to the site and the podcast. My first question for you today is what is the first movie you can remember watching?
A: Thank you sir. I love doing both the website work and the Podcast. It gives me an output for my fandom. The first movie I remember watching was a Double Bill of Star Wars A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back with my father. It is a great memory because I loved and still do love those movies and that franchise.
Q: What is your favourite movie of all time and why?
A: That would have been a hard question to answer prior to this year because I love so many movies. But after seeing The Avengers, I now have a definitive answer to that question. I loved it because the script, direction and acting were all top notch and the story which was a culmination of 5 films prior to it, was done giving everyone an almost fair shake at screen time all while making it funny, action packed and keeping true to the characters which I loved.
Q: Do you enjoy working on the site and the podcast?
A: I love it. I get to have an output for my geekiness and I get to spend time with 3 of my favourite people during the Podcasts. So it is a win win situation for me.
Q: What does Four Geeks And A Pizza! mean to you?
A: A place where I can be at my most geekiness and can talk about the things I like and get to be around like minded people. So really Four Geeks And A Pizza! Is like a Year Round Convention for me. Without the hot Cosplay babes of course.
Q: If there was one question you could ask the listeners of Four Geeks And A Pizza! what would it be?
A: What content could we add that would make you want to recommend us to your friends, co-workers, and other people?
Q: Out of the three other geeks who would you say is the most entertaining?
A: This is a difficult question to answer because each bring their own different sense of entertainment to the table. Kyle brings the funny, sometimes he says stuff that cracks me up, Meagan brings a different kind of funny but she also brings a strong opinion on some topics. Jon is well thought out and has a vast knowledge of most of the topics that we are discussing he also has a sense of humour. Overall I would say in the end if I had to choose one it would be Jon because he is passionate about most of the topics that the website and podcast are known for. And since he talks the most and has an opinion, a lot of the time opposite of mine on everything and he can express this opinion, he is entertaining. Although Kyle and Meagan have come a long way since the first Podcasts. They have raised their game. Although they still piss me off at times lol.
Q: If you could be any character you have ever read about or watched in a movie who would you be?
A: This is a difficult question. There are so many amazing characters out there. Since I am still in a comic book mood I will go with Captain America. Either him or Wolverine since Logan is Canadian but yeah Captain America.
Q: If there was one celebrity you could meet who would it be?
A: Also a hard question. Do I go with my hormones and be a guy? Do I pick someone like say Kate Upton so I could drool over her? No no I do not, I will not be a victim of my libido... so... I pick... wow now this is tough cause all the geek people.... Joss Whedon.... he made many things i love then he came out with the Avengers...
Q: What is your favourite part about the recording sessions for Four Geeks And A Pizza!?
A: Spending time with people who are some of my best friends. I mean I love being able to talk about my geek stuff on the air but it is actually getting to talk to the gang that makes it that much more special.
Q: Jon has stated that his goal with the podcast was to have a place that started a discussion amongst people with similar interests and bring something interactive to the website. Do you think there are any other goals the group is trying to achieve? If so what would they be?
A: Podcast wise I think we are trying to have an enjoyable fun time and we hope that people enjoy listening to us. We don't have allusions that we are going to be super stars although I would love to become one. Or even become a name like oh yeah that is Jason from Four Geeks And A Pizza! lets get his opinion on this geek thing and this geek thing.
Q: Do you think the podcast will be something that lasts a long time?
A: I would like it to. I think as long as all 4 of us are willing to take the time to do it and we are still enjoying it that it could last a long time. Plus honestly I think if we know we have an audience that wants to be entertained and listen to it, that would help us and motivate us more.
Q: What things would you change about the podcast?
A: I would fire Meagan. No lol. I enjoyed the Avengers specific one so I would enjoy if we would do more that were kind of things Specific. I wouldn't mind getting a guest host once in awhile. lol
Q: What things wouldn’t you change about it?
A: I would keep what are we indulging in. I would keep the Four of us. I like talking about True Blood, I like that we talk about movies and such. There really isn't much I would change. I think the format is fine.
Q: Do you think it’s important to having varying views on different topics during the podcast?
A: I do. As much as I like to argue my view and I think that it is right... I think having varying different opinions is good. If we all agreed then what fun is that?
Q: You have contributed a few new features to the site recently. Are there any new features that you are planning on bringing to the website or the podcast?
A: Podcast probably not... The website I will be doing a weekly recap of Sons of Anarchy when it comes back on. I will continue with the Rant and Rave of a Fan Boy, will try to do some more interviews, After the Fan Expo I may add a comic section if I can read enough graphic novels. I may also continue with a Section that I did two parts of then abandoned. It is talking about current shows that are on the air and in advanced seasons that people should check out.
Q: What do you think Jon.com has accomplished in the first year of running the website?
A: It has brought entertainment news, geeky entertainment news, fun quirky articles, podcasts, and just a whole lot of fun to people who decide to read our articles and who decide to check out the site.
Q: What did you think about the fact that Jon wanted to change the site to Four Geeks And A Pizza.com?
A: I think Jon must have been a marketing major to make that call. It is all about branding and it was smart for him to do it. We already have the Podcast called Four Geeks And A Pizza and we have t shirts and such so it was smart to switch the website and incorporate the rest of the contributors. Plus it is a catchier name for a site, less generic. more memorable.
Q: Do you feel that music should be featured more on the website or the podcast?
A: I do feel that music is probably least talked about subject by the group and it is least talked about on the website but the fact might be that today's music on the whole kind of sucks. Jon and I went to an Aerosmith concert and we both gave reviews but there is not a whole lot to talk about musically unless we push ourselves. I mean we do a Top 10 movies we could also discuss the Billboards Top 10 music songs.
Q: Do you think that a lot of people still watch TV at the regularly scheduled times? If not what do you think the reasons are?
A: I think Must See TV is on it's way out. With all of the other options like PVR's. downloading, streaming from networks, Netflix, Box Sets, these all have taken away the need from watching a show at a specific time. There are always areas where you will have shows where people have to watch right then because it is a water cooler kind of show and you don't want to have spoilers or anything. But otherwise I think todays television viewing public is changing and the reasons that there are still set times is due to the revenues that comes from the commercials and such.
Q: Do you feel that comic book movies will grow stale in the near future or is there still a large market for them?
A: Comic Books have been around for over 50 years and they have such a vast amount of characters and storylines to utilize that I don't see it going stale anytime in the near future. There are so many great characters in just Marvel and DC alone that I think they could make fantastic movies. The only problem is that these movies are expensive and they have been made to be Tent Pole movies. So if they don't make a large majority of their budget back in opening weekend they are considered a flop. So the studios which own them won't want to make a movie about a lesser known but potentially amazing character because they don't want to make a movie that bombs.
Q: Do you think the podcast should continue it’s bi-weekly recording sessions or should the amount of time between podcasts change?
A: I would love once a week after the summer is over lol... during summer it is super hard to hit once a week. Or I would also maybe like to do every other week and then once a month do a Specific Podcast for Example. A Whedoncentric Podcast We bring in guests and stuff. Or for Halloween a Horrorcentrick lol see how I put trick anyway I would love to do some Centric pods.

Some Casting News For The Wolverine!
Fox has just announced some casting news regarding next summer's The Wolverine(the follow-up to X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
The news is as such:
Hiroyuki Sanada will play Shingen, Hal Yamanouchi will play Yashida, and Tao Okamoto and Rila Fukushima or set to play Mariko and Yukio.
They are all Japanese actors and it will be great to perhaps see a little authenticity to the film, which will feature the villain The Silver Samurai.
Officially looking forward to this film

True Blood Season 5
Episode 5: "Let's Boot And Rally"
**Spolier Alert**
In last night’s episode of True Blood Bill and Eric brought Sookie along to help figure out Russell’s location. We finally got some interaction between Russell and Bill and Eric after they covered him in concrete at the end of season 3. Denis O’Hare was excellent as usual. Patrick and Terry are being held against their will in Brian Eller’s bunker and we get to see the being that is crazy awesome in my opinion and I really can’t wait to see what happens with that storyline now.
Jessica and Tara seemed to make friends with one another at Fangtasia until Tara starts to feed, among other things, with Hoyt. I will say I LOVE the idea of having the a vampire cat fight on the show!
Jason and Andy both wake up naked after their party with fairies. Jason has a distressing dream about his childhood.
This episode was actually quite exciting and felt that it may be one of the better ones of the season so far. They need to bring on more Russell Edgington!

The Amazing Spider-Man Review
Rating: 6/10
Excitement rating before film: 6/10
I want to start my review by saying that this take on Spider-Man was not my friendly neighborhood Spider-man. He was actually a bit jerky. If Andrew Garfield got one thing right in his portrayal of the character it was most definitely Spidey’s sense of humour.
Other than that I would like to say that the film lacked bewilderment. There was no “Holy sh** I have spider powers” element to it. Another thing it lacked was the depth defying webslinging that Spider-Man is known for which bring such wonder and amazement to the franchise.
Let’s talk about casting. Andrew Garfield makes for a great Spider-Man but is not the Peter Parker I know and love. Denis Leary does a wonderful job as Captain Stacy. Oh and Martin Sheen was a half-decent Uncle Ben although he didn’t fit the role perfectly like Cliff Robertson. To say that Uncle Ben’s death in this movie was not as prominent as it should have been is an understatement.
Perhaps the worst casting came in the form of Sally Field as Peter’s Aunt May. She looks NOTHING like her and as great as Sally Field is she wasn’t right for the part. Rhys Ifans plays the underwhelming Dr. Curt Connors/ The Lizard. Perhaps the worst part for me is that The Lizard was one of my favourite villains in the comics and I hated him in the movie.
Now it’s time to give the movie some credit where it is due.
Emma Stone proved me wrong when I said I thought she was wrong for the part of Gwen Stacy. She was terrific and one of the best parts of the film. She and Garflied had amazing chemistry.
The film did have humourous moments but was much too dark in tone for a Spider-Man movie.
Also I did enjoy the build up to the potential inclusion of the Green Goblin in future installments.
Overall I’m not overly pleased with The Amazing Spider-Man. As a movie it was okay but it’s not the tale of Spider-Man as far as I’m concerned.

True Blood Season 5
Episode 4: "We'll Meet Again"
**Spoiler Alert**
I’m back to recap episode 4 of True Blood’s fifth season! Thanks Jason for filling in for me. Anyway, let’s get started.
This week on True Blood Eric and Bill, with pressure from the authority continued their search for Russell Edgington and it looks like they are potentially gonna be using Sookie as bait. Sookie and Alcide repair their fractured friendship and we have never seen Sookie have so much fun after Lafayette accidentally nearly kills her during his own possession.
Pam and Tara look they they are beginning to form a mother-daughter relationship after Pam saves Tara from inflicting the true death upon herself. Personally, I think they will make a tremendous team in the episodes to come. Eric even ends up releasing Pam.
The most interesting part of the episode comes in the form of a party hosted by the fairies, attended by Jason, Andy, and the judge, which turns odd quickly when Jason discovers that Hadley is working there.
It was a great episode, which seems like it is building to something awesome in the near future. Stay tuned…..

Review Of Aerosmith's Toronto Show On The Global Warming Tour With Cheap Trick
CHEAP TRICK
Simply BADASS. They came on stage right on time and rocked out to hits like "Surrender", "The Flame", "I Want You To Want Me", and "Dream Police". They made me want to familiarize myself with more of their music. Definately a crowd pleasing band.
Aerosmith
Oh Mr. Tyler how I adore you. Toxic Twins Steven and Joe came up from below the stage together to start their awesome set which featured hits such as "Love In An Elevator", "Livin' On The Edge", "What It Takes", "Last Child", "Cryin'", "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", "Dream On" and many more.
Steven Tyler was particularly entertaining moving around the stage and hitting those high notes as if he were 20 years old again. He even shared the spotlight with the rest of his band, giving both Joey Kramer and Joe Perry their own respective solos. The crowd seemed to LOVE the show. Great job boys!

Batman And Superman To Appear In Lego Movie
It has been announced that Warner Bros. is working on a Lego film featuring Batman and Superman titled Lego: The Piece Of Resistance. Rumor has it that Channing Tatum will do the voice of Superman and Will Arnett will be Batman.
This is rather interesting news. I'm excited to see where this goes. Although, I'm sure all the DC fans want to push for a Justice League Movie.

Curse Of Chucky To Be Shot This Fall!
It has been announced that there will be a new sequel in the Child's Play franchise titled Curse Of Chucky. Creator Don Mancini will be heavily involved in the project which will begin production this fall. I was quite excited when I read about this... until I saw that it was a direct-to-dvd release. However Brad Dourif, the voice of Chucky, will reprise his role. There is still no word if Jennifer Tilly, Chucky's bride Tiffany, will be involved.
Also, it appears that a remake of the first film is still in the works.

Rock Of Ages Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
Rock Of Ages follows a group of young rock n’ rollers as they strive to keep rock alive as the struggle to live their lives.
Starring Diego Boneta, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Bryan Cranston, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, Paul Giamatti, and Tom Cruise as rock star Stacee Jaxx, Rock Of Ages allows for a fun time at the movies. The soundtrack is well done. The film is hilarious at various points.
One thing I would like to mention is that as much as I don’t care for Tom Cruise or Russell Brand they were two of the best things this movie had going for them. Tom Cruise definitely lost himself in the role of bad-ass rock star while Russell Brand was utterly hilarious.
The one downfall the film has is it’s thin plot. This is however usually expected in the musical genre.
If you are looking to have fun and sing along without paying the cost of attending a live rock concert, Rock Of Ages is the next best thing.

Monsters University Teaser Trailer!
A teaser trailer for the long-awaiterd sequel to Pixar's 2001 film Monsters, Inc. has finally arrived! The film looks hilarious and I can't wait to see this. The film won't be released until the summer of 2013 so we must have a little more patience.
Top Ten Tuesdays
Top 10 Favourite Disney Movies
With Disney releasing their new film Brave this Friday, June 22 I thought it would be interesting to count down the Top Movies from the magical world of Disney. Let's do this!
10. Homeward Bound: The Incredible JourneyThis may be the only live-action film on this week’s Top 10 list but it was always one of my childhood favourites. Homeward Bound follows the journey of two dogs, Chance and Shadow and a cat named Sassy as they try to find their way through the wildnerness to find their home and family. And yes the pets talk. The voise work is done well by the likes of Michael J. Fox, Sally Field, and Don Alder. This movie is almost a tearjerker as well so watch out!
9. The Jungle BookRudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book makes the Top 10 Disney film list quite easily just by having some of the best music and best illustrations ever. The film is colorful, fun, and definitely displays the time period in which it was created. This film is one of the bare necessities of any Disney collection.
8. Snow White And The Seven Dwarves One of the very first Disney films, Snow White And The Seven Dwarves, sets the stage for the rest of the Disney princesses. It includes one of Disney’s most iconic villains and lots of cute cuddly forest animals to go around. Not to mention it’s a classic tale.
7. 101 DalmationsThis one is amazing! Love the opening sequence and every single one of those 101 Dalmations. The film follows dalmations Pongo, Perdy and their many children who are being sought after by the evil Cruella De Ville who wants to make coats out fo them.
6. The Fox And The HoundThe best part of The Fox And The Hound is that it’s a story about friendship. Todd and Copper grow up as friends until Copper becomes a hunting dog by command of his master, and eventually when needed Todd still comes to his aid. This movie was simply adorable and sad.
5. Toy Story 3Although the first sequel to Toy Story was a little underwhelming the third film in the series tells a tale about growing up through the team of toys that were introduced in the first and second films. We see their owner begin to grow apart from them as he gets older and eventually heads on to college. Toy Story 3 talks about the changes we all go through throughout our lives and how many of these changes can be sad ordeals or complete blessings in disguise. It is a coming of age story and should go down in history as not only the best Pixar film but also one of the best Disney films.
4. The Little MermaidWhat child or adult could resist singing “Under The Sea”. Even if you didn’t sing it out loud or hardly knew the words you still sang it in your head. The Little Mermaid is probably right behind The Lion King in terms of it’s music. And that’s what makes the film so terrific… Well, that and it’s cast of amazingly quirky and fun characters like Flounder and Sebastian the crab.
3. Beauty And The BeastBeauty And The Beast has one of the most important messages that people should strive to teach their children: “Looks aren’t everything”. The film is actually quite dark but fun at times and is considered one of the Disney classics. It has one of the better princesses and most of it’s other characters are memorable due to the fact that the have been turned into objects. Beauty And The Beast is a pure work of art.
2. AladdinI love all the characters in this film. It has a great hero and villain. It’s one of the biggest Disney adventures to date, with magic carpets soaring through the air, a genie granting wishes, and a sorcerer transforming into a cobra and trapping a princess in an hour glass. This one takes you into a whole new world.
1. The Lion KingThis is not only the best Disney movie ever made, it’s the best animated movie ever made, the best children’s movie ever made, and for me it’s in the top 10 movies ever made. The Lion King is all heart and should be regarded as a masterpiece. The film discusses awesome themes such as running from your past and taking responsibility for your actions. Also, the theme of family is at the heart of the film as young Simba tries to find his place in the world after his father is murdered by his villainous uncle Scar. This one is quite possibly the most beautifully colored of the Disney films and most definitely has the best music of all of them. Hats off to the Elton John, Tim Rice, and Hans Zimmer.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, and David Schwimmer return as our furry animated buddies in Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. Unfortunately the main cast of this film hardly made me laugh. The enjoyment comes from the supporting characters like the lemurs and the penguins as was the case in previous installments. Some laughs also come in the form of an animal control officer from France, who is quite hilarious.
The film is a great outing for the kids and the adults may get some fun out of it as well.
This movie seemed to be one that was actually visually enhanced by the 3D effect. It is colorful, vibrant, and high-spirited.
Madagascar 3 was a standard-issue family film and that’s all it strives to be so the filmmakers accomplished what they set out to do: entertain the kids and like-minded adults.

True Blood Season 5
Episode 1: "Turn! Turn! Turn!"
**Spoiler Alert**
In the season 5 premiere we found Sookie and Lafayette cleaning up the mess after Debbie and Tara's deaths, when Pam arrives and is asked to turn Tara into a vampire. Meanwhile, Alcide tries to get word out that Russell Edgington has been removed from his concrete prison and also tries to help Sam fight back against Marcus' mother and the rest of his wolf pack. Bill and Eric are captured by the vampire authority but get themselves free with the help of Eric's "sister". Jason deals with his jealousy issues when Jessica starts flirting with another guy and Hoyt's anger. Tara eventually wakes up at the end of the episode.
Overall I thought the episode was hilarious. It was a fun return to Bon Temps and set a lot of really cool things up for the rest of the season.
Episode Highlight: Pam getting down in dirty while trying to turn Tara into a vamp.

Producer Avi Arad Discusses Future Venom Movie and Spider-Man's Potential Involvement In Future Avengers Installments
The Amazing Spider-Man producer, Avi Arad, says that Sony is working on a Venom movie that could eventually lead up to Venom's appearance in the new Spider-Man movie series. He also talked about how he felt that Spider-Man didn't need to be involved in the Avengers films although he stated that he could see that it would benefit both Disney and Sony. This means that there is a solid chance that Spider-Man could show up in The Avengers. Unfortunately, at this point in time, Sony still owns the rights to Spider-Man, so the ball is in their court.

Prometheus Review
Rating: 8/10
Excitement rating before film: 8/10
Excellent science fiction! That is exactly what Prometheus is.
Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel is wonderfully written, directed, and acted out by set of more-than-capable filmmakers.
The movie looks dazzling and has quite a compelling story, and acts as a great lead-up to one of the biggest franchises in the history of sci-fi.
The actors all play their roles well, especially Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron(who doesn’t quite get as much screen time as one would hope).
Prometheus is an entertaining journey to discover the beginnings of mankind that doesn’t disappoint. This review has been short due to the fact that there really is nothing about this film to really take issue with. Well done Mr. Scott.

The Hangover Part III Could Take Place In Tijuana
Life And Style Magazine recently published a report that stated that the third film in the Hangover franchise could be heading down to Mexico.
Director Todd Phillips said this about the upcoming film:
"Obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy, the third would be very much a finale and an ending... I haven't discussed it with these actors yet. [It would] not follow the same template, but is very much a new idea."
As much as I enjoyed the first movies I would like the filmmakers to take the film in a different direction rather than make another carbon copy of the original.

MTV To Develop Scream TV Series
This is a strange piece of news to me. It has be announced that MTV is making Scream into a television series. Personally, I'm not sold on this idea as I feel like Scream is done best as a film series. Also, I am worried that the cast will not live up to the cast that the fans of this series have come to know and love. It is also not known whether or not any of the cast of the film or if Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson will have an involvement in the series.

6 New Character Posters For The Dark Knight Rises!
These posters were released recently and personally I think they look great! So stoked for this film!
Dark Shadows Review
Rating: 6/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are at it again! While I love both of them, I do wish that they would take a break from one another. With that being said, when I saw the trailer for Dark Shadows I thought it was something quite refreshing.
After watching the final film, which is based off of the soap opera which ran from 1966-1971, I will say it was definitely entertaining. Although, it starts off kind of boring the second half makes up for it. The movie is whitty and fun. Depp, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter, and Michelle Pfeiffer all give great performances in the film.
The movie is not perfect by any means, but it serves as a good time out at the movies. The comedy in the film helps to save it from it’s mediocre plot. Oh, and of course it may soon be another one of Burton’s cult classics.

Top 10 Favourite Songs
I thought it would be really fun to do a list of my favourite songs this time around as Music doesn't quite get the attention it deserves on this site. Yes, I just criticized my own site. But I really enjoyed putting together this list. Hopefully some of you visitors out there will send us your own Top 10 lists as well.
10. "True Colors" by Cyndi LauperI know I'm probably going to get a lot of ridicule for this one but I don't care. The song has a very strong an important message and is sung incredibly well by Cyndi Lauper. This song is the "be yourself" song that is by far the most effective.
9. "Saturday Night" by The MisfitsThe main reason why I love this song is because The Misfits just full out rock. They give us this incredibly eerie ballad and it works on every level. Yes, the lyrics can be disturbing but if you like catchy lyrics with a heavy riff you will love "Saturday Night" off the album Famous Monsters.
8. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by NirvanaThe first track on Nirvana's Nevermind has been described as "the song that defined a generation". While this may be true this make my list just due to it's interesting lyrics and super tension. the song continually switches from low and slow to hard and loud and is just an excellent song to rock out to.
7. "Jesus Of Suburbia" by Green DayThis is the song that lays the groundwork for the rest of Green Day's concept album American Idiot. "Jesus Of Suburbia" strays from Green Day's usual three minute pop-punk formula and is a nearly-ten-minute experience. The song is essentially five songs in one and is a blast the whole way through. It also has a very relatable message and story.
6. "Mayonaise" by The Smashing PumpkinsA mellow song with quite a nice pay-off in the end, The Smashing Pumpkins' "Mayonaise" from their album Siamese Dream is a joy to listen to. I find the lyrics to be very euphoric. The song is beautiful and one of the Pumpkins' best.
5. "Jackson" by Johnny and June Carter CashWhat is there to say about this one other than it's sung by the man in black, the king of country himself and his wonderful wife. It's a beautiful duet that has most definately stood the test of time. R.I.P. Johnny and June.
4. "Black Or White" by Michael JacksonThe king of pop had many AMAZING songs. But I feel none of them really had the statement that this one tried to make: "See, It's Not About Races, Just Places, Faces". Well said MJ.
3. "No Woman, No Cry" by Bob MarleyThis song made the list because, like "Mayonaise", it is completely and utterly euphoric. Bob Marley narrates the song perfectly(as he always did) and pours his heart and soul into melody, lyrics and vocals. Bob you are terrific in every way possible.
2. "Dream On" by Aerosmith"Dream On" is perfect in pretty much every way from Steven Tyler's vocals and lyrics to Joe Perry's excellent guitar riffs. The best songs are created when the musicians seem as attached emotionally to a song as Aerosmith are to this one.
1. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by QueenI have only but three words to say and the reason why this is number 1 should make sense: Freddie FUCKING Mercury. The man was a musical genius and with the help of his increble song he created the best song ever written. It's theatrical, it's full of emotion, it's full of range. It's not just a song it's an adventure. That's all.

The Avengers Review
Rating: 8/10
Excitement rating before film: 9/10
The Avengers was most definitely an exciting film. Some of the best superheroes come together in the film to form an amazing team of more than competent saviors.
The teams includes Iron Man(Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America(Chris Evans), Thor(Chris Hemsworth), The Incredible Hulk(Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow(Scarlett Johansson), and Hawkeye(Jeremy Renner). I felt that all these characters got adequate screen time and most of them, other than Thor seemed to have adequate development. Thor’s lack of story was what disappointed me most.
The plot was simple but fun. There are enough one-liners to go around and these characters play off of each other very well.
The first half of the film seems a little slow paced but once it finally gets around to more of the excellent action sequences it speeds up and you won’t want to stop watching.
The film was a well-written and directed popcorn flick by Buffy creator, Joss Whedon. There is a lot of great comedic moments in the film. Unfortunately for me, I felt, unlike most, that this film was not the greatest superhero movie of all time, although it does rank quite high up on the list.

Top Ten Tuesdays
The Top 10 Comic Book Characters
In the spirit of the upcoming summer comic book movies we've decided to do a Top 10 Comic Books Characters list! Here's my top 10:
10. Comissioner Gordon Jim Gordon deserves to be on this list considering he was even more of a sidekick to batman than either Batgirl or Robin. Gordon has helped the bat countless times and has even made sacrifices to do so. He is a very brave character, who wants the best for his city even at the cost of the well-being of his family.
9. Spawn All I can really say about Spawn is that he’s just badass! He has the amazing powers such as teleportation, phasing, resurrecting the dead, energy blasts and more! Oh, and did I mention he’s been to hell and back.
8. Rogue Without a doubt Rogue is one of the best female superheroes. She’s a young southern gal(and mutant) who has the ability to absorb other mutants powers(at the risk of killing them). She absorbs the powers of Ms. Marvel and is then able to fly and has super-strength. After time spent with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants she ended up with Professor Charles Xavier and his team of loyal X-Men. She is most interesting because unlike most other characters she is incapable of touching people so she will never be able to get physically close to somebody, she will ever know again what it’s like to touch another human being.
7. Michelangelo Michelangelo has to be the coolest of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just because he is the comic relief(along with his more intellectual brother Donatello). He is the party turtle and quite possibly the one with the most heart(ok maybe after Raphael). The best thing is that he doesn’t lose his sense of humour even when he’s fighting foes like The Shredder. He also is an expert at the nunchaku.
6. Dr. Octopus Dr. Otto Octavius is certainly one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes. He’s a scientist with four mechanical arms that were accidentally grafted to his body, giving birth to the menacing Dr. Octopus! Doc Ock has always been the most challenging and intellectual villain for poor Spidey. He even married Peter Parker’s(Spider-Man) Aunt May.
5. VenomVenom is like Spawn- just pure badass! He’s an alien symbiote who first used Spider-Man as a host and brought out his worst qualities. Then once Spider-Man figured out how to remove the symbiote it moved on to Eddie Brock and once again brought out his worst qualities and emotions. It also gave Brock Spider-Man’s powers. The symbiote also has the ability to shape-shift and change it’s coloration and take over the host’s mind.
4. Dr. Jean Grey/The Phoenix(Dark Phoenix)Dr. Jean Grey is single-handedly the best female comic book character. She has the power of telekinesis and telepathy. She is a member of the X-Men. She is loving, caring and nurturing. And after trying to save her fellow X-Men she is exposed to high levels of radiation and becomes The Phoenix, an all-powerful, god-like being. Eventually the Phoenix goes mad and destroys a star, which in turn destroy’s it’s solar system’s inhabitants.
3. Batman The Dark Knight himself is one of the first superheroes and still remains one of the best. Bruce Wayne witnessed the death of his parents at the hands of a criminal at a young age and was raised by his butler Alfred in Gotham City. The city was corrupt with crime and having the tragic experience of losing his parents turned him into the crime-fighting vigilante called Batman. Batman is a dark figure dressed in a cape and cowl in the form of a bat with almost every kind of gadget at his disposal. He is a creature of the night and wants to put fear into the hearts of criminals throughout the city. He gains a trusted sidekick named Robin(many have taken up this mantle, some have eve died in their pursuit of crime fighting). Oh, and did I mention he’s got the best rogues gallery out of every comic book super hero out there. It includes, The Joker, Two-Face, Catwoman, Bane, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, The Riddler and many more. All of them are a reflection of Bruce Wayne/Batman’s own personal traits.
2. The Joker The maniacal Clown Prince Of Crime deserves to be high on the list because he is the caped crusader’s most formidable foe. He’s smart, daring, and utterly insane. The Joker has caused possibly more pain to Batman than any of his other villains. This includes shooting Batgirl(Barbara Gordon) in the spine and viciously murdering the second Robin, Jason Todd. He’s also tried to make Comissioner Gordon go inasane. Oh, and he’s always had that sadistic sense of humour that fans have grown to love.
1. Spider-Man Peter Parker is one of the most relatable characters in comic history. He’s a regular teenager but with the proportionate strength and abilities of a spider, that he gained after being bitten by a radioactive spider. He’s had his issues, whether it’s Aunt May’s health risks, losing the love of his life to a psychotic villain, losing his best friend to insanity, and being rejected by the woman he wants to marry. And that’s just the beginning. Spider-Man also has one of the best rogues galleries. His villains include Dr. Octopus, Venom, The Green Goblin, Sandman, Mysterio, Shocker, Chameleon, The Lizard, Electro, The Vulture, The Rhino, Kraven The Hunter, and King Pin.

The Cabin In The Woods Review
Rating: 8/10
Excitement rating before film: 8/10
The Cabin In The Woods is a horror movie that does not seem to be made for the sheer fact of scaring it’s audience. What it gives them, instead of the usual jump scenes and gory deaths, is an overwhelming amount of paranormal happenings.
The film attempts to deconstruct the horror genre as a whole, much like Scream did back in 1996. The major difference was that, this film was less effective in doing so.
That being said, Cabin does have it’s merits: a likeable cast of would-be victims, a crazy underground workforce who are the major antagonists of the film(who are semi-reminiscent of The Initiative in co-writer Joss Whedon’s hit television series Buffy The Vampire Slayer), and plenty of laughs to go around. Oh, and did I mention an ending that is so utterly fun that it makes up entirely for the underwhelming second-act. Fans of old and new horror movies will enjoy the film.
Fans of the horror-comedy sub-genre will most likely definitely love the film as it has almost the same feel to it as Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead Trilogy and Drag Me To Hell.
Joss Whedon and director Drew Goddard worked very well together on this one.

Green Day To Release Three New Albums Starting In September!
Billie Joe Armstrong announced today via Twitter that Green Day are working on a trilogy of albums that will be released in September, 2012, November, 2012, and January, 2013.
For me this is epic news!
The albums will be titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tre´! . It is unknown whether or not they will be concept albums like their two previous albums American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.
UPDATE: The albums will be released on September 25th, November 13th, and January 15th.

New Dark Knight Rises EW Cover!
Here is the new Dark Knight Rises cover of Entertainment Weekly featuring Anne Hathaway's Catwoman. I hope the promotion for this film kicks into high gear soon. Especially since i find this cover looks a little to weirdly photoshopped:(

Top Ten Tuesdays
The Top 10 Television Shows
You all voted for which list you would like to see so here it is: My Top 10 Television Shows!
10. The X-Files The X-Files is every sci-fi horror fan’s friend. The series follows agents Fox Mulder and the skeptical Dana Scully as they investigate strange phenomena and attempt to uncover a huge government conspiracy. The series was very creepy during it’s time on the air and honestly I couldn’t watch it until years after. It is one show I loved getting into. This is true especially while watching the alien/UFO storylines.
9. Freaks And Geeks This one holds a special place in my heart. Freaks And Geeks is a show about just that, freaks and geeks. It has an amazing cast including James Franco, Seth Rogan, and Jason Segel among others. Each of the characters, whether a freak or a geek reminds you SO much of what high school and adolescence were all about regardless of what generation you grew up in. This show dealt with pretty much every issue that teens go through every day without making the adults boring. Thank you Freaks And Geeks!
8. Fringe Yes it’s true, I picked Fringe over J.J. Abrams’ masterpiece, Lost. If TV shows could make love and have a child, X-Files and CSI would be Fringe’s parents. The show is fascinating to watch, mostly due to the talented performances of Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv, and John Noble…. And then there’s the weird science fiction aspect that the show has that almost seems plausible. Honestly… you should at least rent this one if you like science fiction or detective shows.
7. South Park Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were seemingly crazy when they came up with this show. What they did was create a show that was so utterly stupid that it was smart. South Park is perhaps the one absolute trash show on TV that you might be able to walk away from having actually learned something. Every episode makes some sort of opinionated statement or another. Oh, and of course the show is HILARIOUS.
6. Pinky And The Brain This is the one kids TV show on the list although I was tempted to put more. Children’s cartoons can have so much imagination put into them and that’s why I love Pinky And The Brain. The writers were constantly coming up with new and funny ways for Brain and Pinky to try and take over the world and then fail on an epicly funny scale. The two characters also play very well off one another.
5. Queer As Folk(U.S.) Queer As Folk was quite the daring show when it first aired on HBO in 2000. What this show did was bring out a little more of a realistic approach to the portrayal of gay characters and the people who love them. Not only does it follow the journeys of a group of gay men and women but it’s also a story about humanity in general. Most viewers would say the show depicts all the different kinds of gay people, but I’d like to say that it depicts pretty much all the different kinds of people in any given group, showing that the gays are just like everyone else. They have their good moments and their bad ones.
4. Modern Family Modern Family is simply hilarious and I hope to be re-watching it again one day and saying, “Wow, that really was a great show”. The show depicts the structure of what many families in today’s world look like. I feel that is important because nobody seems to have the typical family anymore so it is time that our TV shows adapted to that. I think the best thing about Modern Family is that you, as a viewer, can grow so fond of these characters and almost feel as though they are people you know. By the end of every episode I kind of look at them and say that’s what my family is like in a way.
3. Buffy The Vampire Slayer My top three shows had a nice brawl for the top spot. It was a little difficult to decide what should be where. Buffy rightfully belongs in the Top 3 simply because it’s badass, it’s heartfelt, and it’s meaningful. I don’t think there is one character on this show I can say I don’t like, and that includes Riley or Professor Walsh. They all have their own great attributes. Another thing that makes Buffy so spectacular is the dialogue. It can be tremendously witty, or sad, or even infuriating. Possibly one of the coolest things about Buffy is that you watch the characters grow from the second they come on the screen. Buffy is a coming of age story about life, responsibility, and friendship.
2. Six Feet Under Once again it was so hard to pick a spot for this. What is there to say about Six Feet Under? It’s brilliantly written. It’s sad. It’s happy. It’s entertaining, yet solemn. I feel it, like Buffy or Modern Family, has characters that make you say “I know that person”. The show is a reflection of life. What have you done? What haven’t you done? Was it right or wrong? Will people judge me for it? Should I keep it secret? How important is family to me? Does all that really matter? Six Feet Under is a show that shouldn’t be addicting but is.
1. The Simpsons My favourite television show of all time, The Simpsons, paved way for the likes of South Park and Family Guy. The reason this show is my favourite is because it makes me laugh all the time and I love laughing. Yes it’s true, the show has kind of lost it’s way in recent years but The Simpsons in it’s prime was funnier than pretty much all the comedies on TV today. It was a pop culture phenomenon. As South Park stated The Simpsons did everything. I can’t think of one event in my life that I can’t relate to an episode of the FOX series.

American Reunion Review
Rating: 8/10
Excitement rating before film: 9/10
Wow! What a reunion that was!
The whole cast from the original American Pie film returns after the franchise took a nine-year break(other than the horrible spin-off movies) and they still continued to amuse me.
This film made me feel old but in a good way. It was great to see the old gang again. Jason Biggs, Alysson Hannigan, Seann William Scott were all hilarious in the film. But I think Eugene Levy deserves some credit as well.
The film, once again deals with the issues of growing older. As individuals the group has trouble adjusting to grown-up life but that soon fades away as they are reunited and fighting with the new generation. Oh, and the sexual escapades continue to be embarrassing yet hilarious.
Thank god this film was not a disaster.
Well done!

Jennifer Aniston And Jason Sudeikis To Star In Marijuana Comedy We're The Millers
The pair are to star in the film as a "family" who try to smuggle pot across the U.S. in an RV. After seeing them both in Horrible Bosses I'm excited to see them collaberate.

Green Day To Induct Guns N' Roses Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Rolling Stone magazine just announced that Green Day will be inducting Guns N' Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on April 14th. There is still no word yet on whether the original members of GNR will do a performance together at the ceremony. It would be great to see it happen but let's be honest... as Slash said a few days ago "Axl Rose hates his guts"

Sonar Developing Hellraiser: The Series
Sonar entertainment is hard at work on a new television series surrounding the Hellraiser film franchise. This is what they had to say about the series:
"One of the most successful (and terrifying) franchises in film history is ready for its weekly television debut. For over 25 years, fans have followed the exploits of an insidious villain named Pinhead, summoned from a nightmarish underworld by an ancient puzzle box. He will seduce you with power and tempt you with fear, until your soul belongs to him. Now, for the first time, a weekly series set in the fantastic realm of Hellraiser will thrill audiences worldwide."

Fan Expo 2012!
This year is bound to be bigger and better than last year with guests such as Comic Book Legend Stan Lee, Master Of Horror John Carpenter, and Professor Charles Xavier himself, Patrick Stewart!
I'll be attending all four days(Aug.23-26) of Fan Expo 2012 with my good friend Jason Revington. Kyle will be there for at least one of the days:)

Hornswoggle To Star In Leprechaun: Origins
WWE films has announced that David Postl also known as Hornswoggle will star in the upcoming Leprechaun Remake. I don't know what to think of this. ThSeems like a step down from Warwick Davis. Hopefully this film will be able to bring the franchise back to it's horror roots.

A Star Is Born Remake Is Actually Based On Kurt Cobain
Having never seen the original film, I can say that I am happy that the film will somewhat follow his life. Although I'm sure some of the film's fans are not going to be happy. I personally would love to see a full Kurt Cobain bio-film one day but this seems to be the closest thing I'm going to get in the near future. This is what screen writer Will Fetters is saying about the Clint Eastwood directed film:
"I think I've reinvented the Norman Maine character, the lead," Fetters said. "I wanted to do 'A Star is Born' because I'm a huge Kurt Cobain fan. That was like my Kennedy assassination when I was a teenager. When he died it was a huge horrible thing. So I approached 'A Star is Born,' for me the framework was all right, if Kurt Cobain never got to go Unplugged and survived and it’s 20 years later and it’s now, and he wanted to try to do that album with that understanding as this grunge icon. That'd be tough to get done if he was past his prime, no longer selling, how does he get that album?”

Wrath Of The Titans Review
Rating: 7/10
Excitement rating before film: 7/10
Wrath Of The Titans
is a bit of an improvement on the 2010 remake Clash Of The Titans. The reasons for this being that the special
effects were much better, the acting seemed better, and overall it was just
more epic.
While Wrath does not have a lot of scenes that define it, it does strive to make every scene better than what we got in the first outing.
Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson also seemed to be a bit more into their involvement in the sequel. Oh, and did I mention Liam was also quite badass when he wasn’t being held prisoner.
In this film we also get to see the Minotaur, which has always been one of my favorite parts of Greek mythology.
Thank you director Jonathan Liebesman for giving us a sequel that was at least somewhat worthwhile.
