Top Ten Tuesdays

10. Grand Theft Auto IIIIn all honesty I probably love this game solely because of my devious side. Grand Theft Auto III allowed you to play in story mode, but I was always more interested in just going around and trashing everything and getting a tank to help me with the task. This is a great game to help you get out any frustrations you might have.
9. Twisted Metal IIIOnce again, the destructive side kicks in as players attack eachother in cool vehicles. Perhaps the graphics aren't the greatest, nor does the game have the best concept.... But I loved playing it.
8. AladdinThis is on here pretty much for the sake of nostalgia. I played this game non-stop as a kid and can still remember the cheat code that I used to skip (lots of) levels. Each level was gradually more difficult but I did finally get to Jafar a couple times and kick his ass!
7. Roller Coaster TycoonThis is a game that kept me glue to the computer chair. Who doesn't want to design their own theme park?!! It was always fun to see the guests fly of the tracks when you would raise the launch speed of your roller coasters as well.
6. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3This one upped the graphics on the first to games and brought in a shitload of new items and rides! The challenges were also made to be more challennging. This also had a great water-park expansion pack that made me very happy.
5. Pac-ManClassic... You all know it so I don't think it's necessary to explain the greatness of Pac-Man. 'Nuff said!
4. Star Fox 64Another game I played for hours on end. Although, it seems signifcantly less difficult than it did when I played it as a kid. Still, it's loads of fun! You get to fly around in planes and shoot at the enemy and do all sorts of neat tricks. Some of your team mates can get a little irritating, especially f***in' Slappy!
3. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3My friends and I would get together in my basement all the time to beat the shit out of eachother through Mortal Kombat 3. We had tournaments regularly. And when we got bored of that we could always play the regular mode. We also LOVED watching all the fatalities and brutalities. Awesome game.
2. Sonic The Hedgehog 2Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was everything that the original was and more. It provided hours of entertainment. I still can't get very far in the game but it's still fun to try! I loved rolling around and breaking robots and catching rings. I also loved the two player racing mode.
1. Mario Kart 64F***ing amazing game! Mario Kart 64 may have been the only Mario Bros. game I ever truly enjoyed. It's like Twisted Metal for kids but in racing style. You get to throw shells and all sorts of other things at eachother. You get to choose between eight classic characters to play. Oh, and you get frustrated at falling into the water and being hit by things like giant penguins sliding along ice. LOVE IT!

The Sims 3: Seasons revealed!
Here I am with another Sim 3 update. As everyone can probably tell I love the Sims line of games. I couldn't help but jump up and cheer when I saw the next expansion. The Sims 3: Seasons!!! If anyone is familiar with the previous Sims 2 game you will remember they had a seasons expansion. They've brought it to the Sims 3 now. So that means your Sims can now experience Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Your Sims can go for a walk in the rain with an umbrella, bob for apples, attend festivals in the city and enter a haunted house during Halloween! This game looks awesome and I'm going to be giddy until it comes out!

An interview with a Queen of the League of Legends
Some Q and A with a Queen of the League
The following is an interview with Sherry Hall an avid League of Legends gamer.
Q When did you start gaming?
A I didn't game that much as a kid. We didn't have the consoles that kids have today. I used to play those downloadable games that you see on Bigfish Games and Gamehouse, but I found that I would finish those in one day because they weren't challenging enough. I guess it was about 5 years ago that I set out to find something a little more challenging and it just escalated from there.
Q What are your favorite games?
A. Currently I would say that my favourite game is League of Legends. It's kind of a toss up between League and Guild Wars. If I play one a little too much and need a break I will switch back to the other one. However, Guild Wars 2 is available for pre-purchase on April the 10th. The game is supposed to be beyond epic and is generating a lot of excitement. With your pre-purchase you also get a beta key to take part in all of Guild Wars 2 beta events. The greatest part about Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 is that they are free to play. So while you do have to purchase the games and any desired expansion packs there is NO monthly subscription fees. Once you buy the game you can play for free, always.
Q What gaming systems do you use?
A
PC! Honestly I think it's the only way to game. I know that there are probably a lot more console gamers out there today, but I still feel like PC gaming is the best.
Q. Have you ever finished a game?
A Have I ever finished a game? Games can be finished? So yeah, I guess I used to finish those easy downloadable games from Gamehouse. Games like Guild Wars and League of Legends, they can't be "finished". You don't just finish MOBA's and MMORPG's.
Q. What aspects of gaming do you like? What do you dislike?
A. I like games that are challenging. I like games that have a PvP aspect to them. Playing PvE is okay when you just wanna chill and maybe go through a few games or missions with your "friends". PvP is where the challenge really is because no two experiences are ever exactly alike. You're playing against another competitor, so you can never really predict what another player will do. Strategies have to change on the fly and you have to adapt as the game progresses. What you do, items that you buy and your strategy have to be situational. I like the interaction with other people and working together for a common goal. I guess there have been times when the game is too distracting and you just get too hooked on it.
Q. Explain about the MLG for me.
A. MLG is a professional gaming competition. They hold competitions throughout the year at different locations around North America. There are more competitive gaming competitions than just MLG; there’s IEM, IPL, Dreamhack, WCG and a bunch more. Basically players from around the world get together at a hosted event and play their specific game for fairly large cash prizes. League of Legends is probably one of the fastest growing games right now, and the competitive scene is just massive. All the events are live streamed so fans can watch the games being played in real time. It's all pretty exciting. TSM! TSM! TSM!
Q. Would you encourage your kids to get into it?
A. The prize pool for season 2 of League of Legends is 5 million dollars. So yeah, if they could be professional gamers I would definitely encourage them. All kidding aside though, I think that gaming is like anything else in life, it's all good in moderation. As long as gaming isn't interfering in education and other things that are more important.
Q. Do you think there is too much violence in video games?
A. I think it depends, I mean for some games I would definitely say yes. I think that as adults we can handle what we see in video games because we know that it's just a game. However, I do believe that seeing that much violence on a regular basis can desensitize us, even as adults. I don't think that I would ever want to see a gory and disgusting video of something real and not be horrified. Kids on the other hand have a difficult time differentiating sometimes between reality and fantasy. It's really up to the parents to enforce video game ratings, games are rated M for a reason.
Q. Have you ever angrily thrown a controller across the room?
A. Haha no. I PC game so I would have to throw my keyboard across the room and those can be more expensive to replace than console controllers. I am not going to lie though, I have been known to yell at my screen and curse at it. I always use push-to-talk when I am gaming with friends, so that they can't hear all the obscenities.
Q. What is your favorite swear word to use while gaming?
A. Oh man, what a terrible question lol. Can I just please the 5th on this one?
I would probably say the "F" word or bitch. When I'm really mad? I won't share that one.
Q. If you were to be any game character who would it be?
A. I think that I would pick Nidalee from League of Legends. She's pretty amazing with a spear and she can morph into a cougar. Or Gwen from Guild Wars. I've always had this kind of fascination for Gwen and I collect Gwen stuff in game.
Q. If you were to ever date any game character who would it be?
A. Hmm I can't really think of a game character I would want to date, so I will just go with Dyrus! After all, it's his birthday.
Q. What is the longest stretch you ever played one game consecutively?
A. I have been playing Guild Wars for almost 2 years now and League of Legends for a year and a half. Before playing those two games I played a game called Evony for a couple years. It's an RTS strategy game, but it took way too much dedication and time to be really successful at it.
Q. If you had to rank in order what your favorites are what would order would it be reading, television, movies, gaming or eating?
A Gaming
Reading
Television
Movies
Eating
Eating isn't something that's fun or exciting, it's a necessity.
Q If you had a question to ask our Podcast team 4 Geeks and a Pizza what would that question be?
A I would just ask that anyone who is a gamer on the team to try out either of these games. I don't think they will be disappointed. Especially with League of Legends. It's actually a free to download and free to play game.
If anyone on the team or anyone reading this interview has gained some interest in League of Legends and wants to start an account you can add me in game under Swow. If you need help leveling or even just learning the game I can help you. Warning, it is a hard game and not something you're going to master in the first week or two of playing.
Thank you Sherry for taking the time to complete this interview

Elder Statesman of the Gaming Community
Toronto resident Steve Grosberg has been playing video games for since the early 70’s. Video Games popularity has grown vastly in this time. Not only have they grown in popularity but also advanced rapidly in software and hardware, video graphics quality and in story and scope of the games. Many A list actors do voice work on these games now. I myself am not a gamer but I know Steve loves his games and devotes a lot of time (too much time his wife may say) to his habit. I sat down with Steve for a little interview for Jon.com to ask him about his history as a Gamer.
Q: Steve I am going to lead off with the big question, what would you say is your favorite game of All Time?
S: Well Jason, that is hard to narrow down to one game. Final Fantasy is my favorite game series. If I had to choose one I would say Final Fantasy 7.
Q: Steve what made this game so compelling that it gets listed as your favorite game ever?
S: It had a good graphics, well for those days at least and it had a compelling storyline.
Q: As a non gamer myself I am curious does the Final Fantasy series utilize the same characters in each game?
Steve: Oh god no. Or at least not that I can recall. The stories are different in each game. Yes maybe some of the later games had characters cross over’s and such.
Q: What was the first gaming system you played? What was the first one you owned?
S: First gaming system I remember playing was an Odyssey and the game was Pong. By today’s standards very cheesy but back then in those days it was cutting edge. The first I owned was a Commodore 64. I couldn’t tell you for the life of me what games I played on it but I do know it was the first game console I owned.
Q: As I know today you are a big fan of gaming, what got you hooked on games?
S: It was the original Sony Playstation.
Q: As one of my fellow Podcasters Kyle from Four Geeks and a Pizza has stated he believes he has Video Game ADD. Do you think you suffer from the same thing Steve?
S (laughs): Yes I do think I do.
Q: How many games in your life do you think you have actually finished?
S: I would honestly say probably less than 10%. Lets just say very few.
Q: If you had to say what elements would define the perfect game, what would you say?
S: Honestly Jason I am still looking for the perfect game. I couldn’t tell you what would going into making the perfect game. I just enjoy finding them and playing them. I think this is like most gamers out there.
Thanks Steve. That wraps up my first interview for Jon.com.
