Foo Fighters Play Last Show(For A While)
This news may be a little late but during their set at the Global Citizen Festival in New York Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters announced that it would be their last show for a while and he really didn't know when they would be back. So they powered through their Wasting Light and Greatest Hits heavy-set so that they could watch Neil Young play.
This is a sad thought to me. I really hope they can get back together sooner rather than later.

The Smashing Pumpkins Begin Work On New Album
After this year's successful Oceania album, Billy Corgan and the rest of the current Smashing Pumpkins line-up are working on a follow-up. This is occuring despite that before Oceania was released Billy Corgan had discussed his distain for the album format. He found that it was even more difficult to release music piece by piece. He had this to say about the album format:
"In fact, I kind of dread it because I think it's a lot of energy for not a lot of return," he explains. "I mean, what are great sales today? At least back in the day, it was like a million, two million -- at least people were listening to it. Now you sell 100,000, and for all you know two million people are listening to it but you don't see it. You don't get the reward for it. The business treats you like shit if you don't do certain numbers. You can't get played on the radio 'cause the guy in the nameless band is outselling you. I really wish someone had come up with an (alternative), but I don't know what supplants it. It's all very mystifying."

Deadmau5's New Single "Professional Griefers"
The first single "Professional Griefers from Deadmau5's upcoming album Album Title Goes Here features Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance. I'm still not sure how I feel about this song, despite enjoying both artists. Let's see if it'll grow on me. You can take a listen below.
Kevin Richardson To Rejoin The Backstreet Boys!
Kevin Richardson will be rejoining the Backstreet Boys for a show in New York City on August 31 as well as for a new album due out next year. The album will be in honour of the group's 20th Anniversary(that's scary to think that it's been that long). It will be their eight studio album.

Green Day's New Single "Oh Love"
So Green Day's first single from ¡Uno! has hit the web!
My thoughts on the song are that it is quite awesome. It has a very classic rock feel to it and great sing-along potential. It seems a bit repitive but hopefully I can get passed that the more I listen to the song.
You can take a listen at the Green Day Authority website.

Green Day Unveil Trailer For New Single "Oh Love"
This is great news! their first single for the first album of their upcoming trilogy will be released on July 16. They have provided a trailer for the song which you can watch below.
Aerosmith Walked This Way and We didn’t Miss a Thing
Wednesday Nights Aerosmith and Cheap Trick concert flat out rocked. These veterans of Rock and Roll showed that they still have it. Cheap Trick performed all their staples hits and their lead singer Robin Zander still has a fantastic voice. I really loved hearing The Flame, I Want You To Want Me and Surrender. Their hour long set was great, even the songs I didn’t know I was jamming to. And then came Aerosmith. Steve Tyler and Joe Perry emerged from below the stage together. And then they proceeded to rock. I loved how each individual member got their chance to shine by doing solo’s and how Steven Tyler could still hit those high notes. Steve Tyler IS A ROCK AND ROLL GOD, the guy is your prototypical Rock and Roll front man. Joe Perry is cool as hell and the guy can play a mean guitar. Their set list was as follows
Draw the Line
Love in an Elevator
Oh Yeah
Livin’ on the Edge
Cryin’
S.O.S. (Too Bad)
Last Child
Drum Solo
Rag Doll
Boogie Man
Combination
What It Takes
No More No More
Legendary Child
I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing
Big Ten Inch Record
Sweet Emotion
Walk This Way
ENCORE:
Dream On
Train Kept A-Rollin’

Review Of Aerosmith's Toronto Show On The Global Warming Tour With Cheap Trick
CHEAP TRICK
Simply BADASS. They came on stage right on time and rocked out to hits like "Surrender", "The Flame", "I Want You To Want Me", and "Dream Police". They made me want to familiarize myself with more of their music. Definately a crowd pleasing band.
Aerosmith
Oh Mr. Tyler how I adore you. Toxic Twins Steven and Joe came up from below the stage together to start their awesome set which featured hits such as "Love In An Elevator", "Livin' On The Edge", "What It Takes", "Last Child", "Cryin'", "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing", "Sweet Emotion", "Walk This Way", "Dream On" and many more.
Steven Tyler was particularly entertaining moving around the stage and hitting those high notes as if he were 20 years old again. He even shared the spotlight with the rest of his band, giving both Joey Kramer and Joe Perry their own respective solos. The crowd seemed to LOVE the show. Great job boys!

Top Ten Tuesdays
Top 10 Favourite Songs
I thought it would be really fun to do a list of my favourite songs this time around as Music doesn't quite get the attention it deserves on this site. Yes, I just criticized my own site. But I really enjoyed putting together this list. Hopefully some of you visitors out there will send us your own Top 10 lists as well.
10. "True Colors" by Cyndi LauperI know I'm probably going to get a lot of ridicule for this one but I don't care. The song has a very strong an important message and is sung incredibly well by Cyndi Lauper. This song is the "be yourself" song that is by far the most effective.
9. "Saturday Night" by The MisfitsThe main reason why I love this song is because The Misfits just full out rock. They give us this incredibly eerie ballad and it works on every level. Yes, the lyrics can be disturbing but if you like catchy lyrics with a heavy riff you will love "Saturday Night" off the album Famous Monsters.
8. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by NirvanaThe first track on Nirvana's Nevermind has been described as "the song that defined a generation". While this may be true this make my list just due to it's interesting lyrics and super tension. the song continually switches from low and slow to hard and loud and is just an excellent song to rock out to.
7. "Jesus Of Suburbia" by Green DayThis is the song that lays the groundwork for the rest of Green Day's concept album American Idiot. "Jesus Of Suburbia" strays from Green Day's usual three minute pop-punk formula and is a nearly-ten-minute experience. The song is essentially five songs in one and is a blast the whole way through. It also has a very relatable message and story.
6. "Mayonaise" by The Smashing PumpkinsA mellow song with quite a nice pay-off in the end, The Smashing Pumpkins' "Mayonaise" from their album Siamese Dream is a joy to listen to. I find the lyrics to be very euphoric. The song is beautiful and one of the Pumpkins' best.
5. "Jackson" by Johnny and June Carter CashWhat is there to say about this one other than it's sung by the man in black, the king of country himself and his wonderful wife. It's a beautiful duet that has most definately stood the test of time. R.I.P. Johnny and June
4. "Black Or White" by Michael JacksonThe king of pop had many AMAZING songs. But I feel none of them really had the statement that this one tried to make: "See, It's Not About Races, Just Places, Faces". Well said MJ.
3. "No Woman, No Cry" by Bob MarleyThis song made the list because, like "Mayonaise", it is completely and utterly euphoric. Bob Marley narrates the song perfectly(as he always did) and pours his heart and soul into melody, lyrics and vocals. Bob you are terrific in every way possible.
2. "Dream On" by Aerosmith"Dream On" is perfect in pretty much every way from Steven Tyler's vocals and lyrics to Joe Perry's excellent guitar riffs. The best songs are created when the musicians seem as attached emotionally to a song as Aerosmith are to this one.
1. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by QueenI have only but three words to say and the reason why this is number 1 should make sense: Freddie FUCKING Mercury. The man was a musical genius and with the help of his increble song he created the best song ever written. It's theatrical, it's full of emotion, it's full of range. It's not just a song it's an adventure. That's all.

Green Day To Induct Guns N' Roses Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
Rolling Stone magazine just announced that Green Day will be inducting Guns N' Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on April 14th. There is still no word yet on whether the original members of GNR will do a performance together at the ceremony. It would be great to see it happen but let's be honest... as Slash said a few days ago "Axl Rose hates his guts"

A Star Is Born Remake Is Actually Based On Kurt Cobain
Having never seen the original film, I can say that I am happy that the film will somewhat follow his life. Although I'm sure some of the film's fans are not going to be happy. I personally would love to see a full Kurt Cobain bio-film one day but this seems to be the closest thing I'm going to get in the near future. This is what screen writer Will Fetters is saying about the Clint Eastwood directed film:
"I think I've reinvented the Norman Maine character, the lead," Fetters said. "I wanted to do 'A Star is Born' because I'm a huge Kurt Cobain fan. That was like my Kennedy assassination when I was a teenager. When he died it was a huge horrible thing. So I approached 'A Star is Born,' for me the framework was all right, if Kurt Cobain never got to go Unplugged and survived and it’s 20 years later and it’s now, and he wanted to try to do that album with that understanding as this grunge icon. That'd be tough to get done if he was past his prime, no longer selling, how does he get that album?”

Westboro Baptist Church Pickets Radiohead Concert
A Radiohead concert in Kansas City, Missouri this passed weekend was picketed by members of the Westboro Baptist Church. They used their usual homophobic slurs against the band and insisted that "God is their enemy".
Radiohead's producer Nigel Godrich tweeted: "highlight of the tour so far."
The Westboro Baptist Church then posted this on their website:
"Meanwhile, God is undoing this nation and effecting [sic] all of your lives, with the moth that quietly eats the very fabric of your national garment. Radiohead is just such an event. Freak monkey's [sic] with mediocre tunes keeps you busy and focused by lightness. It changes nothing, God is undoing and digging up and throwing down this nation."I wish something would be done about this Westboro Baptist Church and soon.

Grammy Performances, Adele Wins Album Of The Year!
Alright! So I didn't catch the Grammys on TV last night but have watched some of the performances and I can say for the most part they were well done. Jennifer Hudson also provided us with a lovely tribute to Whitney Houston and the other artists and people that the music world lost this passed year.
Here are the performances by Adele, Lady Gaga, and Foo Fighters as well as Jennifer's tribute. Unfortunately I was not able to find any good quality videos of Bruno Mars or Rihanna's performances:(
Oh and Adele won album of the year!(As she should have)(Sorry Foos, Gaga, and Bruno your albums were good, but hers was exceptional).

Lady Gaga Plans To Meet With Barack Obama After Fan's Suicide
Lady Gaga has recently announced that she will meet with President Obama next week at a fundraiser after the suicide of 14 year-old Jamey Rodemeyer. Rodemeyer was bullied in school and online because he was gay. His parents said they had believed that the bullying issue had gotten better since Jamey had started high school until he took his own life. Gaga tweeted "I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end". And I'm sure most of us would all agree. It does need to stop. How many kids must take their lives before we begin to take action against it. There needs to be stronger bullying policies in schools. Kids should not be forced to go to school every day with the fear that they will be tormented.

The "Material Girl" Loses Lawsuit
The "material girl" Madonna recently appeared in court to defend her clothing company Material Girl Brand from Trademark infringement. Her opposer in the case was a company called LA Triumph, which claims that they own the right to the name "Material Girl". The judge ruled against Madonna, who argued that due to the fact that she created the 1985 song "Material Girl" and sold over $85 million in "Material Girl" clothing while on tour was enough to establish being the "senior trademark user". The judge rejected both arguments but will allow for a jury hearing in October.

Billie Joe Armstrong's Saggy Pants Cause Trouble
Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong was kicked off a plane last Friday after a flight attendant asked him to pull his pants up because they were too saggy. Armstrong responded "Don't you have better things to worry about than that?". She then informed him that he could be ejected from the plane if he didn't pull them up. He stated "I'm just trying to get to my seat". And then he was ejected from the plane. He did however get to take the next flight.
I posted this story because I find it simply hilarious because Billie Joe never wears his pants to saggy from what I've seen. I do think the flight attendant over-reacted because once he had found his seat noone would have seen his sagging pants. That's not to say that Billie shouldn't have just pulled them up.... I think he was probably in a bad mood that day. I will give him credit for not taking crap from anyone though.

I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out and play three more songs". He never came back on stage and the show ended. Afterwards Jared Followill tweeted:

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse(1983-2011)
I know I'm a little late on this one. But I will say first that I was never a huge Amy Winehouse fan, but that's not to say she didn't have amazing talent. It's sad news and was it entirely suprising? No... but that doesn't make it any less tragic. Her talent shall live on through her music.. Rest in peace.

New Red Hot Chili Peppers Single!
Ok so the Red Hot Chili Peppers are back after a four-year hiatus, and flea almost quitting the band(which would have been awful). The Chili Peppers have a new single called "The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie", which will appear on their August 30 release I'm With You. It sounds kinda strange but usually their songs do so maybe it'll grow on me a little more. Nevertheless I am excited for the new album.

Float Away With The Sleeping State
New music from my friend Chris Fairweather and his recording partner Scott Gamble. They call themselves The Sleeping State. Upon first listen I am already loving the album For Dreams & For Nightmares. Listening to the album is quite a soothing experience. If you like the sound of an acoustic guitar and amazing voices then you will love this. Highlights of the album include the songs "Float Away", "It WouldSuffice", "Seasons Of Change", "Of All The Things...", and "Divide And Be Conquered". Excellent work guys! Below is a sample of "Float Away" by The Sleeping State. Take a listen.

PRAYER ALERT For Incubus
Rock band Incubus are being protested against for their upcoming concert appearance in the Philippines. A group text was sent out to gather protestors for the event. The protest is most likely due to what the band name Incubus means. Guitarist Mike Einziger says that he feels it is somewhat of an honor and that people haven't had much of a sense of humor about the whole situation.
The mass text that was sent reads as follows:
"PRAYER ALERT !! A rock band called INCUBUS s comin 2perform at d Araneta Coliseum on July 28. We mUST pRAY this group dUZnt even step on2 Philippine soil so that they dONT impart their spirits in2 our youth!!"

Blink-182 Release "Up All Night"
So it's finally here. The first new material from Blink-182 in almost 8 years comes in the form of the single "Up All Night". I personally LOVE the song and am now more confident that Blink-182 can make a great record. The song seems to infuse elements of all of the band's back catalogue as well as their side projects Boxcar Racer, +44, Angels & Airwaves, and Travis Barker's solo effort. Good job guys!
